I awoke with a start, blood and petals gushing through my mouth. Again, this disease, it's slowly wrapping its fatal rope around my lungs. No one came to save me, Kanda still hasn't come to save me. Will I die this way?
It was early in the morning and I decided to head out towards the dining room, but Mana and Tikki had other plans.
'What do you think you're doing? You're sick! Lay down in bed!' Tikki spoke out. I just shook my head in disagreement and refused to lay back down. Tikkis hands were full, carrying food for the patient, but Manas weren't. With a whole load of protest, I was lifted back onto my bed and wrapped like a new born.
'I'm not that sick, just a cough!' I protest but the men ignore. Laying down breakfast before me.
Of course they had to fill the plate, but I didn't know how to tell them that half of the stuff they loaded onto the plate, or less, won't even be eaten, or will be vomited back up later because of this petal madness.
'I can't eat this....' I tell them, and just like parrots they protest against my statement.
'You can and you will'
"Just eat" Aoi repeats in my head.
I can't, it hurts.
"Eat.. please"
I grab the spoon that was being held by Tikki and begin to eat.
'Is this what you wanted?' The 2 men nod.
I'm really not hungry.
Time passes as I forcefully shove the things on the plate down my throat to satisfy the 2 men.
Once I'm done, Tikki takes the plates out and Mana stays by my side as I slowly drift off to a peaceful sleep.
That was until images began playing in my mind, the colour red, blood, bodies of innocent human beings and above them all, the Earl, smiling and laughing at the massive canvas covered in bodies and red paint that he'd just painted. Amongst those bodies were the man and woman whom Aoi had explain to have been our parents. And me...
Being cradled in someone's arms, with another person beside my body, crying.
Who.. and why..
Am I dead?
"Simply put.. that's the future"
How can I change it?
"You can't... whatever you'll leave behind, I'll follow along after it"
I woke with a start. Aoi's words stuck in my mind... what did he mean.. whatever I left behind, he'd follow along? Revenge..?
I look around, my tubby body moving to look around the surroundings. Mana wasn't there, he'd probably left when I fell asleep. A glass of water stood at the bedside table next to my bed. I sigh and cough yet another mixture of blood and flower petals up. My lungs hurt, they feel as though they've been tightened, like a predator desists it's prey. Though this time, the organism superior, is feeling the consequences of an organism that isn't even supposed to be within her body.
A single leaf falls off my bed and this makes me inclined to get out of my bed and clean the blood and petals off myself. It's been so long since I've felt safe.. and Kanda.. he's still not here.
I want him here, by my side.
I lay back down in bed, now that I know how I will die.. life isn't such fun anymore.
A knock could be heard at my door.
'Takeshi, you need to come outside now.. the order is here.. to take you away, and they'll burn the building down. You need to escape unnoticed' a voice spoke, I could know that voice anywhere, it was Tikki. The one person besides Mana who would willingly help me.
I comply and run out the door, Tikki following closely behind me, his eyes in front watching where we were going. We reach the door, and he opens it, his face becoming grey in colour as he shows his Noah side.
We continue to run, until a certain someone catches my eyes. Kanda..
'Avery, you're here!' He shouts, loud enough for me to hear.
I stop.. I can't follow Tikki anymore. I want to go home.. home where Kanda and Allen are. I look out towards Kanda and see Allen and Leenalee beside him. Home..
And so, I run towards my real family as fast as I could, ignoring the threats and protests coming from behind me. It was mostly Tikki, but I needed my real family. And running just like I had, brought consequences, and without a minute passing, I was heaving, clutching my side, and still running towards the family I had accepted as my own.
Several shots followed, all hitting my fragile body.
And with that, I was caught by the one man who cared for me the most, Kanda.
Allen was beside Kanda and I in no time, Kanda was cradling my body in his arms as Allen let loose the river which was stored in his eyes. Around us were the bodies of other Noah people and the Order personnel. Though I was the main figure in this death story.
I cough up blood and petals one last time, the Iris petals signifying a cherished friendship, my cousin and this man who meant the world to me.
'Thank you'
I spoke as my body grew cold and pale in Kandas arms, and as I was let go from the cruel game called life, the skies turned dark and a single star fell, being replaced by another, this new star will be me, and everyone can observe it and remember the people we once used to be.
And this brings my story to a close, a cold, dead end, but it's better than nothing.
-A month later-
It's been a month since Takeshis death.. or should I call her Avery, just as I once called her before.
She died in my hands, coughing flowers and blood. Her favourite, the Iris. It had no fragrance, yet it was beautiful yet simple.
She was underneath a stone that displayed her name and birthday as well as death day. It was a simple burial, just like she would have wanted.
I look towards the star riddled sky, and look at the brightest.
I know you're somewhere up there, Thank you for everything Avery, my little star.
'Thank you for being my Serendipity and my Euphoria.'
I spoke as I left the Iris I had kept in my hand at her grave.
And with that, I left.
'Don't worry... You will be born anew, oh sweet star of this Utopia'
