Chapter 6 - Guesses, Questions, and Theories

While inside of the car, they were really disturbed and spooked about what's happening. 'Why are you bleeding this much?' Jaay started the conversation while Jack drives. 

'You remember the guy we found lying in the middle of the floor?' Nicole asks them. 

'Yes, why?' Jaay answered. 'He was bleeding too, maybe I was supposed to replace his role lying on the streets but I don't want that to happen.' said Nicole. 

'Even if you don't the voice in your head will tell you to and you won't be able to resist.' Jesse said.

'How do you know that?' Nicole asks Jesse. 

'Oh, right, you were possessed' Nicole remembers and tells them. 

'Maybe it was a cycle, or if I was supposed to be a sacrifice' Nicole says. 

'Why would you say that?' Jack asks.

'Because the people there were doing some weird motion and words as if they were calling on someone to take me' Nicole says. 

'That is still a possibility' Jaay says. The road was peaceful at least and the 3 boys explained everything to Nicole on their way home. Jesse, despite being new, or is he, is now temporarily in the group.

They arrived at the hotel but Nicole is still partially bleeding, they placed a piece of cloth on it but it was still not enough, the wound was too big so Jaay went ahead and got some medical kits. They started wondering why they didn't see Dave on their last visit. They wondered if they should call the police, but they don't know who the guy was, where he is at, and where he has been. No fingerprints or traces of any material of him was left. 

'Do you guys remember Dave?' Jaay asks and they nodded. 'Are you curious as to why he wasn't there when we went there last time?' Jaay asks again. 

'Not really, something is bound to happen if he stayed there.' Nicole answers. 

'Maybe he left already and didn't finish his pursuit' Jack answers as well.

'The name Dave is familiar to me, he sounds like the guy who knows about the building's past' Jesse says. 

'Yeah, that's him' said Jack. 'I saw him when we went there, he was behind Nicole, holding a knife about 10 feet away from her chair' Jesse told them. 

'Are you sure about what you're saying?' Nicole asks, 'Because I didn't see him anywhere inside'. Intrigued, Jesse wonders how they didn't see him. 

'Maybe it was too dark and Jesse's eyes were the only ones that can adjust to that darkness or maybe Jesse was hallucinating or maybe it was just a pattern on the wall taken seriously' were the questions going on there head.

Jaay forgot to bring his phone with him, it was left inside of the car so he used the elevator to go to it.  He waits for the elevator shaft to arrive and the doors to open waiting for him to enter. The time came by and there it is, he went inside alone. 

He pressed Ground Floor or G but that didn't do anything, not even one motion. His claustrophobia kicked in and he got paranoid. He was stuck inside of the elevator, he couldn't communicate with his friends because his phone wasn't within his grasp. He waited for some time and suddenly, out of nowhere, a laugh of a girl can be heard. An innocent little girl's laugh inside of the lonesome elevator. 

He got spooked and in quick tick, the elevator went down the shaft as if it was falling. It was very fast and there was a sudden stop. He is now really in tremendous paranoia. He hurriedly exits the elevator and went to the parking lot and into Jack's car. He puts the key and unlocks the door. He went ahead and took his phone above the seats and he locked and closed it. He was scared of going in the elevator again so he took the stairs. It was a long way up and he wonders 'Who was that laughing girl in the elevator earlier? Am I daydreaming or did it really happen? When will I ever know?'. 

He rushes back to their room only to find a dark figure at the back corner of the room. His friends don't notice it but he does. Nicole whispers to his ears, 

'That black figure, I don't know where it is from but don't pay attention to it'. 

'Okay, I will try' said Jaay. This just adds up to the questions on his head. 'Is that a shadow? Is that a specter? Is that just all of us imagining that it's there when it's not or are we going mad?' were the words going through his head. He also wonders if it is connected to the laughing girl in the elevator. Jack went to Jaay's ear and whispers 

'Get your stuff and belongings ready, we're leaving as soon as possible' so he did.

Out of nowhere, the figure moved and seems to be walking. It's shaped like a human and is being neutral about the situation until it started storming the house. It was like a tornado except the furniture and items aren't moving. Only the gust of wind makes it breeze to our skin. 

'Hurry up guys, we're going!.' Jack screams. 

'We need to use the elevator' Nicole says,

'No!' said Jaay to Nicole. 'Why what's wrong? Jesse asked. 'Let's just use the stairs and I will tell you what happened' said Jaay.

They entered the door, again with a lot of questions. 'Okay, so when I went down to grab my phone, I used the elevator. It stopped after closing and stayed stationary for 20 seconds. I heard a laugh of a little girl and 2 seconds later, the shaft fell down and stopped just before it hit the ground.' Jaay deliberately explains to them. 

'I don't know who the kid was, how it was able to laugh in there when I was alone and why it stopped and then suddenly fell and stopped again before I hit the bottom but somehow, I'm still relieved.' Jaay added to his statement.

'So now, it's your turn to answer my question. What was that black figure doing there? How did it get there?' Jaay asks the 3.

'We don't know either, it was somehow there, I don't know how. Maybe it was when Jack passed through there and his shadow stayed there.' Nicole stated. 

'That couldn't be possible, how can a shadow stop following its progenitor?' Jack asked. 'A lot of questions but now is not the time to answer all of these, we first get out of this place.' Jesse stated firmly, trying to make everyone clam due to the situation at hand.

They went in the car and Jack is driving. He sees that there is no more fuel in the vehicle so he and Jaay desperately grab the fuel at the back and puts it in the system while Jesse and Nicole are preparing and organizing their stuff. They left within 5 minutes time. They found another place to stay in for the 2-week break, their plan is to do it at that time. Their boss called them and told them that he is going to be out of state for 2 weeks so that makes their vacation, 4 weeks exact. This gives them more time to finish finding their school while trying to recuperate with the happenings at hand. A lot of questions are still floating in their heads and no answers were thought of. There was no logical explanation for it nor were there any clues about the incident.
