Chapter 9 - Truth be told

'The black gust that you see is named Joy, she's a child trapped within a black gas, she tries very hard to escape but she needs to break the curse, that might be the reason she is following you.' Dave says, 

'What have we ever done to her?' Jaay asks. 

'I don't know either, but she needs human sacrifices in order to be free from the entanglement.' Dave says, 

'What entanglement?' Jack asks, 

'She is tied to a pocket of black gas, unable to escape it.' Dave answers.

'So, you mean "it" is named Joy who has been following us through everywhere we go, and you don't know why. Also, why does Joy possess other people? Can't she just do it by herself? Nicole asks. 

'She can't right now, the black gas is like a cage, she can't inflict damage nor attack anyone but that doesn't mean she can't go to other people's minds to control her victims. She needs to hear your voice in order to possess you.' Dave stated, 

'Why does she need our voices? Jack asks. 

'After you talk, you breathe in oxygen, since you talked, you take in more oxygen that when you don't so she can use that to get inside your system. She can't go in you through spiritual means because of the gas cage and she can't use your voice when you don't talk to her because your focus is concentrated on something else, she needs you to focus on herself and go in through your breath.' Dave answers. 

'Watch out! Something is behind you!' Jack shouts while something from behind grabbed Dave and pulled him to a wall to materialize and pass through. 

'Quickly! Ask your final question!' Dave asks.

'Is there any way we can stop her?' Nicole asks, 

'I don't know, but I know someone who can help you even more than what I can offer, his name is Lucas, he knows everything about spirits, and Joy is one of them. He lives in this address' Dave says as he gives a sheet of paper. 

'Her only weakness is...' Dave said but couldn't finish. 

'We will come back to save you! We promise!' Jaay shouts as more things start pulling in the matter. They all ran away out of the gate and into the car to be in safety. 'Are you guys okay?' Jesse asks, 

'Yeah, but enough about us, we need to go to this address as fast as possible' Jaay says while he turns on the vehicle.

They desperately try to find where this house is located, they asked people and looked through signposts and finally, they found the place. 

'There it is, I can see the address of the house' Nicole excitedly says. 

'We should park here and knock' Jaay says. They went closer to the door and knocked, 

'Hello? Is anyone here?' they ask. There was no answer, 

'Perhaps he is sleeping?' Nicole suggests an explanation why no one is answering. With one last call, someone answers, 

'Who are you and what do you want?' as he opens the door.

'I am Nicole, this is Jesse, Jaay, and Jack. We just want to see where Lucas is' Nicole politely says, 

'I am Lucas, what do you want?' Lucas says. 

'Do you know anything about this spirit named Joy?' Jaay asks. 

'Shush! Don't talk about things like that here, go inside and I'll tell you what I know' Lucas grumpily says. 

'How do you know me anyway?' Lucas asks, 

'Someone named Dave told us about you in an old building.' Jesse says. 

'So, what do you know of Joy exactly?' Jack asks. 

'She is a demon entrapped inside of a cage, she was summoned by 3 children, yes, that's why you look familiar to me, she was summoned by you 3!' Lucas says, they were shocked, speechless, they were confused, 'What do you mean?' Nicole asks, 'I was once your teacher, that building you were talking about was our school, it was sent to ruins by you 3, you couldn't remember that because Joy got you into an accident during our bus trip' Lucas says.

They got even more shocked, shocked that they actually did that type of action, even at a young age. Jack, still shocked asks 'So, why is she following us anyway?', 'She wants to be free of a curse, a curse set by you, Nicole' Lucas answers. 

'What curse? And what does it have to do with me?' Nicole asks Lucas, shocked beyond belief.

'When she was summoned by the Ouija Board, you were holding a stick, when Joy got in touch with your stick, it was engaged by it.' Lucas answers. 

'Why did it cause a crash on our bus trip?' Nicole asks. 

'She wants you to forget that you did that to her, that you were just 3 innocent children, this way, it can be easier for her to possess you and get her free of your curse.' Lucas answers once again.

'You, what's your name again?' Lucas asks while pointing at Jesse, 

'My name is Jesse' he answers. 

'You look familiar too, you were the transferee back then!' Lucas stated, 

'What do you mean?' Jesse asks while confused. 

'You 4 were classmates back then, you, Jesse, was caught in the crossfire because you were the first one to talk to Joy when she was summoned, but you didn't summon her.' Lucas continues answering. 

'What does it have to do with now? Why is she bothering me too?' Jesse asks, 

'That's because you are not supposed to talk to a spirit you didn't take any part of summoning, since Jack, Nicole, and Jaay summoned Joy, they are the only 3 with the right to talk to her, not you' Lucas says. 

'So does that mean we are immune to her possessing attribute?' Jaay asks, 'Not anymore since you guys are older than when you summoned her.' Lucas answers briefly.
