Chapter 7 - What it can cost

They are in the midst of driving their car on the road when a guy stepped out of the woods and tries to stop the car with anger. 

'Hey! Watch it! You're gonna get yourself killed if you do that' Jack shouted but the guy doesn't seem to make any response. 

It just stares at them for 5 seconds, they heard it scream loud, really loud that the window beside Nicole cracked but not enough to break. Quickly, Jack slammed on the gas with great force and he hit the guy. But the person wasn't harmed or damaged, it was like the guy can pass through matter.                            

They looked back and saw the guy running into their direction. The speed of the car was 90 km/h but it is still able to keep up.  They curved roads and they hesitantly try to lose the guy. They drifted, crossed and sped up until he was no longer in sight. They calm down at the side of the road, 

'What do you think was that about?' Jesse asks, 

'Happenings like this are normal in our lives, you just need to get used to it.' Jaay replies. Jaay and Jack switched spots so Jaay is now once again driving.

They reached the new Hotel with almost absolute ease, except for the fact that they are only 4 people in the car, but they felt like there was 5, it was a weird feeling and sensation. It should be clear now that everytime they experience a weird presence or sensation, none of them should acknowledge it, not until "it" strikes first. However, Jesse wasn't able to notice it or knows about this strategy. None of them has talked about it, it just became like a Natural Law not to do anything when that happens, they were scared to tell each other what their thinking because the figure might hear them.

They went to the receptionist and got a new room. They went there using the elevator, not fearing for there lives like last time. They walked through the long corridor, looking for their room number as they go. This was when the figure appeared once more, in a form of a deep black gust. It appeared behind them as they walked the corridor and Jesse notices. 

'Guys, there's something behind us, it might be "it" again, should I take action?' Jesse asks. 

'No, don't, you will just make it attract more attention, besides, let it act first before we move.' Jaay answers, a bit irritated because he hasn't caught up yet.

'I am kind of tired of this all running away and being scared of its presence, I'll take action, hold on.' Jesse says. 

'Wait, no don't!' Jaay whispers. 

Jesse was arrogant, he wanted to see what this thing had to offer. 

'You guys go on ahead, I'll check what he does.' Jesse says, 

'Don't...!' Jaay whispers. They couldn't stop him doing and proceeding in what he wants to do, even though it is dangerous. Jesse stopped walking forward and looked behind, he watches "it" move around. He approached it while his friends try really hard not to pay attention. 'Hey! Who are you?! What even are you?' Jesse screams down the corridor. "It" came forward, going near to Jesse as well and they meet in the middle. 

'What are you? Why are you doing this?' Jesse asks it a bit angrily, 

'My business is not with you, for now' "it" responds to Jesse with a little girl's voice. 

'Perhaps, I can use you for a little bit' the little girl said. "It" moved into Jesse's body, overwhelming his conscious.

It began to act like Jesse, except, it wasn't Jesse. He moved closer to the group where they are waiting for him outside the door of their room. 

'What happened? Did anything even happened?' Jaay asks Jesse. 

'I'm okay, nothing happened back there, it disappeared out of nowhere' Jesse says correspondently. 

'Okay, we should go inside' said Jack. 

They all went in, not knowing that it's not Jesse, except for Nicole. Nicole's ears are almost perfect, she can hear every bit of sound and can differentiate voices from one person to another. This helps her to realize that it is not Jesse. Nicole immediately went to a room farthest from the living room, where Jesse is at and called Jack, trying to play it off like nothing is wrong. 

'Jack? Can you come over here? Oh, Jesse, can you help Jaay over there?' said Nicole. 

'What can I help you with?' Jack asks. 

'Something's wrong, something doesn't feel right.' she said. 

'What do you mean?' Jack asks. 

'Jesse's voice is not right, he doesn't have a sore throat or a cough, it started when he met up with us at the front door.' Nicole stated, 

'Do you think "it" possessed Jesse?' Jack asks. 

'Yes, and I think we should play along, not letting it know that we already know.' Nicole said.

'He doesn't have black eyes though' Jack proclaims, 

'Yeah but maybe the eyes only turns black when "it" has full control.' Nicole answered.

They went back out of the room and sees Jesse sitting in the living room. 'Hey Jesse, where's Jaay?' Nicole asks. 

'He is back there doing something, he asked me to stay here' he answered. 

'Jack, stay here' Nicole whispers before proceeding. 

'Jaay? Are you here?' Nicole asks, 'Nicole! Help me' Jaay rumbles. 

'Oh my goodness, why are you tied up?' Nicole asks,

'Jesse seems to be out of his mind, he swung a knife at me but I was able to dodge, that was when you came back from the room' Jaay answers quickly. After that last word from Jaay's mouth, Jack screams. Nicole grabs her cutter and sliced the strings holding Jaay and they came rushing to Jack. 

'Is everything okay?' Nicole asks, 

'Yes, everything is fine'  Jesse claims while holding Jack at the neck. 

'What are you doing?' Jaay asks. Jesse didn't answer nor respond, Jaay grabbed Jesse and threw him to the door, struggling for a bit. 

'Jack are you okay?' Nicole asks, 

'Yeah, but Jesse isn't, he is apparently possessed now that it's obvious' Jack responded. 

'You make very poor choices considering your stealthiness' Nicole tells "it". Jesse grabs Nicole, taking her knife and pointing it at her, holding her hostage with one swift action.

'If I were you, I wouldn't move nor get close to me or else this girl is getting killed'  Jesse says. 

'Okay! We'll back off' Jaay shouted. 

'Seriously, why are you doing this?' Jack asks, but there was no response from "it".  

Jack spilled water earlier when they first came in accidentally, but now it seems to become useful. He waits for Jesse to get close to the wet carpeting and gets out his Taser. Jack went close, disobeying "its" command, making Nicole get choked while being raised up. 

'This is the chance to electrocute him' Jack thinks. Jack gestures Jaay to grab Jesse's attention by shouting, with quick steps, Jaay shouted 'Hey Jesse!', while Nicole is raised up, she can't get electrocuted. While distracted, Jack lunges in the Taser at the wet area and electrocuted Jesse, but not enough to kill him, just enough to knock him out.
