Chapter 8

It was the next day and Owen and Amelia hadn't talked about the kiss. Amelia wanted to be with Owen, she truly did but she knew I️t was wrong. She loved the kiss though, and she loved Owen. Kailey and Ryan didn't know about the kiss, she was scared I️t would ruin things for them. She was also scared of running into a relationship. Owen felt the same way, he wanted to be with Amelia, but he thought the kiss was a mistake. He wanted to be with Amelia but he knew I️t would ruin Kailey's relationship. He hadn't talked to Amelia in a few hours. They both had work and the kids were at school. Meredith was getting ready for work when Amelia rang her doorbell. She rushed to the door and Amelia was standing out in the cold. Amelia came in and explained everything that happened and the kiss. Meredith was excited for Amelia, but Amelia further explained how she liked I️t but I️t was wrong. Meredith told Amelia to go for I️t, and she wanted to, but something else was on Amelia's mind, Ryan- dead Ryan. Today was the anniversary of his death. 15 Years. It didn't feel like that long. Amelia had so much on her mind right now and she couldn't think about Owen. She walked into the cafeteria and saw Derek. Derek knew what day It was, so did Meredith. For some reason she wanted to think of Owen, wanted to go talk to him. She walked over to Derek and he got up and wrapped his arms around her. She started to tear up but she stopped herself.
"Have you seen Owen?" She asked.
"No, why?" Derek asked.
"I have to ask him a question," she said, "I'll go find him."
"Okay, you okay?" Derek asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said and walked down the hall. She heard the elevator door open and she turned around and Owen came out of the elevator. Amelia's eyes were still kinda teary and Owen noticed right away.
"Hey what's wrong?" He asked her.
"Nothing, it's just allergies I'm fine," she said, "but can we talk about yesterday?"
"Uh yeah," he said. Both of them walked down the hall to a quieter section of the hospital. Owen knew Amelia wasn't ok, but he didn't want to force It out of her. He could tell she had been crying, or was holding It in. Amelia stopped walking and Owen stopped next to her.
"Have you ever lost someone?" She said quietly.
"Yes," He said. She stood there next to him and looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears. He wrapped Amelia in a hug, her arms went around his waist, and she started crying. Owen was holding Amelia close to him as she softly cried. Amelia barely cried in front of anyone, barely even Derek or Meredith, which showed that she truly loved Owen. She stepped back from the hug and whipped her eyes.
"I'm sorry I'm just a mess," she said sniffling.
"Amelia it's fine," Owen said as he put his arm around her. Amelia put her arm around his waist and they walked down the hallway and into an empty room. They both sat down and Amelia felt she owed Owen an explanation.
"I-," Amelia started, but was cut off but Owen saying, "you don't need to explain."
"Ok," she said in a quiet voice, "I wanted to talk but now I'm just a mess."
"Hey, it's okay," Owen said and moved closer to Amelia. Amelia looked up at him and she smiled. She leaned in and kissed Owen softly. The kiss caught him off guard, but he didn't deny It. Amelia kissed him passionately as they moved closer to each other. Amelia's pager started going off. She broke the kiss and looked at Owen and then at her pager.
"Duty calls," She said.
"I'll see you later?" Owen asked.
"Yeah," Amelia smiled and got up.

Derek and Meredith were in the lobby waiting for Amelia. Amelia really needed to get her mind off Ryan, she had had a rough day. Amelia was upstairs walking with Owen. They started walking down the stairs to the lobby, laughing and smiling. Derek and Meredith both looked at each other and tried to listen in to their conversation. Amelia and Owen got to the end of the staircase Amelia hugged Owen tightly.
"Thank you for today," Amelia said softly.
"No problem," he said. She smiled softly and walked towards Meredith and Derek. Her mind kept racing of today with him, like on a loop. She didn't want It to end.
