Chapter 25

Amelia walked back into the kitchen and sat down next to Derek.
"Is everything alright?" Derek asked.
"Its about the trial," Amelia said.
"Oh okay," Derek said.
"Trial?" Liz said worriedly.
"Custody battle," Amelia said.
"Oh," Liz said. They all ate dinner together and caught up with one another. It was starting to get late so everyone said goodnight and Liz showed Derek and Amelia the two guest rooms. Liz had promised to visit them more, she loved her brother and sister so much.

Amelia and Derek had visited their mom the next morning for a little while, she as well as Liz she promised to visit soon, but of course after she was healed. She was doing great in recovery so far, as she did not have anything major, the doctors told them she could leave early tomorrow. Derek and Amelia got into Derek's car. Derek offered to drive home since Amelia drove there.
"Hey do you mind if I call Owen?" Amelia asked.
"I don't care," Derek said. Amelia called him and he answered right away.
"Hey, were on our way home we should be home around 2," Amelia said.
"Okay," Owen said.
"How are you doing?" Amelia asked.
"I'm really stressed out," Owen said.
"Okay, just try to relax Okay, I'll be home soon I promise," Amelia said.
"I miss you," Owen said, "how is your mom doing?"
"She's doing great, she's starting recovery and she can leave the hospital tomorrow," Amelia said, "also she wants to meet you."
"That's good, and that could be fun," Owen chuckled.
"Yeah," Amelia said, "how was Ryan? Didn't cause any trouble I hope."
"He's fine, they both just did homework and played video games while you were gone," Owen said.
"Can I talk to him?" Amelia asked. Owen chuckled and said, "Amelia it's Monday."
"Wait no shit," Amelia laughed.
"Yeah, he'll be home around 1:45," Owen laughed, "you're cute when you forget things."
"You're cute too baby," Amelia said.
"Okay, well I gotta work on some paper work, I'll see you soon bye," Owen said.
"Bye," Amelia said. She hung up and looked at Derek.
"How much longer?" Amelia said.
"Amelia we still have 2 hours and 15 minutes," Derek said, "how's Owen?"
"He's really stressed out about the trial, I don't know how to help him," Amelia said.
"Well in almost 2 hours you'll be there for him, and that's all you can do," Derek said.
"Okay," Amelia said.
"You and Owen make a cute couple," Derek said.
"Was that sarcasm?" Amelia said.
"No in all seriousness, you make each other happier," Derek said.

Derek pulled into Amelia's driveway. Amelia couldn't stop smiling she was so excited to see Owen.
"Thanks," Amelia said, "I love you."
"You're welcome, and I love you too," Derek said. Amelia unlocked the front door and Owen was laying on the couch. The second he heard the door open he got up and saw Amelia. He came over and wrapped her in a big hug.
"I love you Amelia," Owen said. It caught Amelia off guard, but she felt the same way about Owen.
"I love you too Owen," she said. He passionately kissed her. Amelia wrapped her arms around his neck and Owen lifted her up.
"I missed you," Owen said.
"I missed you too," Amelia said.
Kailey and Ryan were upstairs doing homework. Kailey knew she had to break up with Ryan. It's not because she didn't like Ryan, it's because of the trial. It would look so bad that she's dating her dad's girlfriend's son, and it would look badly on her dad.
"Hey Ryan?" Kailey said.
"Yeah?" Ryan said.
"We need to break up," Kailey said, "and it's nothing you did, and I still like you but, with the trial coming up it's not going to look good for my dad if we're dating and he's dating your mom and I really need him to win, and we're honestly just best friends anyway we don't really even go on dates so, I'm sorry it's had to come to this," Kailey said.
"Hey, it's okay, I agree we should break up for the trial because you need your dad to win, and for our parents sakes, we should probably stay broken up after the trial," Ryan said.
"Thank you for understanding," Kailey said, "we can still be friends right?"
"Of course we can, You're my best friend," Ryan said.
