Lines in italics is the song "If Only" sung by Dove Cameron. I just think it fits the chapter.)
A million thoughts in my head, should I let my heart keep listening? Because up till now, I've walked the line. Nothing lost, but something missing. I can't decide what's wrong, what's right. Which way should I go? If only I knew what my heart was telling me, don't know what I'm feeling, is this just a dream? If only.
Evelyn was getting frantic. She knew she loved Tom, but what happens if he doesn't love her back? Evelyn knew she was being stupid. Why make her go through the pain? The pain of rejection. And she couldn't possibly be with him. She had a mission. She had a... Evelyn slammed her book shut at the realization."I can be with him!" She said happily. Queenie raised and eyebrow at her.
"Girl, a few minutes ago you were crying about how you'd never be with him." Queenie said. Evelyn rolled her eyes.
"I did not cry." Evelyn said.
She can be with him!! She can, she can!! If Evelyn and Tom were dating, then she can change his future! She can sway him from the dark side! She can save him!! It will work! The future will be saved, and I... I have someone who would love me.
"You basically were." Queenie said. Evelyn sighed. It was pointless arguing.
"I need to find Tom!" Evelyn said putting her cloak on, and running out of the dorm. She ran down the small set of steps and ran to the main room of the common room. She found Les and Avery sitting on the couch and doing Potions homework.
"Where is Tom??" She said stopping in front of him.
"Uh... he's talking to Slughorn. Something about a question in a book he found." Avery said.
"Thank you!!" Evelyn said as she ran out of the common room.
Every step, every word
With every hour I am falling in
To something new, something brave
To someone I—I have never been
She ran through out the Castle and didn't stop until she reached Slughorn's classroom. She opened the door and tentatively walked in. Tom was nowhere to be seen, but Slughorn sat at his table."Ah! Miss Montmorency! To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked. He started shoving papers under an old book, and looked like he was covering something. Evelyn didn't press, she was here for something far more important.
"Was Tom Riddle here?" She asked.
"Y-yes. He was. Here. He is gone." Slughorn said. Obviously.
"But you knew that. He said something about the Astronomy tower, if that helps." Slughorn said. He didn't need to finish his sentence because Evelyn was already going there.
If only I knew what my heart was telling me
Don't know what I'm feeling
Is this just a dream?
Evelyn ran up the stairs and saw Tom looking through a telescope. He heard her footsteps and looked up."Evelyn." He breathed.
"Tom. I have something to tell you, and I'm going to say it because I have the courage too right now. I like you Tom Riddle. I like you a lot. You make my heart flutter, my face go red. You make me smile, laugh. And I want to be with you. Pushing my fear aside, I love you. Do you love me back?" She asked. She closed her eyes, in fear that he would say no. What damage didn't expect was lips kissing her forehead. Her eyes shot open and Tom was standing right in front of her.
"I love you too Evelyn." He said. Evelyn beamed.
"Really?" She asked. He nodded and slipped his hand into hers.
"Come on, it's cold up here." He said. Evelyn smiled and they walked back to the common room, hand in hand.
