Joseph sat in shock, shaking rapidly with a blanket draped over his shoulders. He was sat in the abandoned KKK McDonalds, as was Johnny's idea. It was an attempt to cheer him up until the gang realised that the McDonald's was abandoned, and all that was left was rotten patties and McNuggets.
However, the gang still delivered, Luceil finding a rotten patty behind one of the grills and serving it to Joseph in a positive fashion.
Johnny sat next to the shaking boy and was in shock himself, his mind racing with many different thoughts. He was completely unsure of what had happened and he didn't entirely want to think too much into it, yet, he knew he had to. For the sake of Joseph.
"So.. Daniel is.. still alive." Polly stated, looking down at her mouldy McNuggets. "Yeah. Must be." Daneil agreed, his eyebrows raising as he leant back onto Neil and flicked a lighter on and off. The flame illuminated the dark restaurant before flicking off again, and then on again. The cycle continued as the gang sat in silence until Luceil sighed.
"C'mon guys! Do something funny! Like we always do!" She waved around her hands in a dramatic fashion. "I bet Daniel lives out there in the wild now.. like a caveman! Or like the Jungle Book! He's out there taming lions and riding horses through the forests and climbing trees in nothing but a tiny skirt made of huge leaves!" Luceil shouted in a happy tone, unintentionally trying to lighten the mood.
"You know that wasn't Daniel, right?" Joseph's head bowed as he stared to the floor, his dreads covering his shoulders. Johnny glared over at him in shock and squinted. "Huh?" He asked suddenly and Joseph looked up to him with a somewhat angered expression. He took a rogue sip at his Jesus-red-wine before slamming it back on the table and taking a deep sigh.
"That's not Daniel. Didn't you read the damn document? It said Daniel and Lake were in charge of the cloning experiments in Area 51. They had to test out their cloning on Daniel once they ran out of test subjects - or employees - and the result? Something unbelievable.."
Polly raised her eyebrows and came to a strange conclusion. "So.. that was just a Daniel clone? How do you know it's not actually just Daniel?" She questioned. Joseph looked across the table at her and took another sigh. "Yes, yes it was. Wasn't it obvious? My dad would never dress like that. And after all the evidence we have now that it could be a clone, I think it's kinda a safe accusation to make."
The seven sat in silence for a moment before Neil spoke up. "What happened to you guys when you were there? Like.. it has to be something super serious." He concluded.
"Well.. when we got there, there was this super huge passageway. And when we reached the top of it we were just back in Daniel's old office. I wanted some fun so I decided to play detective, and while doing so, I accidentally pulled this book-lever and the whole bookshelf moved to reveal this creepy looking science-lab room.
Inside there was a ton of pictures of people with red crosses over their faces or huge red circles. One of those people was George Bush. And then Joseph made sense of the tanning-bed like machine and concluded that it was actually a cloning machine. And then we found pictures of Combaticus that said he was a mistake.. so we figured out that he's actually a failed clone of President Bush. But then the George Bush now is the clone.. I don't know."
Silence reigned over them once more as they were submerged deep in thought. "So.. where is the real George Bush?" Jingil asked nervously. "He has to be out there somewhere - it's just a matter of finding him though."
"Wait.. wait. That's the least of our problems. I'm just thinking.. how did Daniel actually die? It has to have been assassination, but.. but why? He was a part of all this! It can't have been suicide or Lake or Daniel's clone, because he was a part of this big organisation so why would they want to kill him in the first place?" Johnny questioned, trying to piece things together in his head and failing.
"Okay. So I know this is a bit far fetched, but I know my dad so well. And I know he wouldn't have been happy with any of this. The dates in that room on those pictures were around the time when my dad kinda.. changed. I don't know. Recently he's been different and seemed a bit more.. stressed? And when he started to change was around the date of George Bush's cloning.." Joseph pandered.
"Wait, you think that they did kill him.. because he was disturbed by it? You think he changed cause he was kinda scared?" Polly asked and Joseph slowly nodded. "This new Daniel.. he's like.. The Cooler Daniel. He's so much cooler than Daniel was.. at least.. in looks. He's the supreme Daniel - the perfect Daniel. That's why they killed the original. He wasn't dedicated enough."
"George Bush must've known something they didn't want him to. Why else would they get rid of him?" Johnny suggested cautiously. It was silent once more as each of the seven attending tried to think of a suitable thing to say. "Poor Daniel. He must've really hated it and the other two didn't like that.. so they killed him. That's the only option." Luceil stated, seeming unusually serious considering her personality.
"I wonder who The Cooler Daniel actually is. Like.. is he even real? Is he a person.. or is he like.. like a telegram?" Daneil rubbed his chin, trying to make sense of it all. Joseph shook his head and closed his eyes. "No, he's definitely not a telegram. You all saw what happened yesterday! That was real. That was him." He declared.
It was silent. Completely silent and no one knew exactly what to say. Joseph was sat with his dreads hanging over his shoulders, some hanging down one side of his face. Johnny was sat frowning at him and wishing he could help in any way, yet he knew he couldn't do much.
Luciel was sat fiddling with her hair with a dopey look on her face, trying to distract herself from the serious tone of the situation. Daneil continued flicking his lighter again, turning the silence into an annoying, repetitive noise. Neil's shoulder was being leaned on my Daneil still, and his arm had now gone numb. His thoughts were all jumbled and he was so confused by the whole situation. He had never imagined Daniel doing anything like what he'd found out.
Jingil was staring to the side out of a cracked window at the street next to them. Life had just carried on, many people were out attending to their average business and Smith was outside trying to give flyers to people. Her eyes were half-lidded as she, herself, was half asleep and extremely tired.
Meanwhile, Polly had moved to go and grab some more mouldy McNuggets, because even though they were mouldy, she'd barely eaten for weeks and she deserved something.
"So.. I have a question." She said when she returned and sat back down. "It's kinda.. weird but.. I mean, maybe I'm overlooking something.. but.. why kill George Bush? Like.. was he-"
All of a sudden, there was a extremely loud cracking noise as the glass flew straight from the window frame. Jingil wailed as her thoughts were interrupted, staring straight to the man stood in the newly entirely shattered window frame.
It was none other than 'The Cooler Daniel', stood with a gun in his hand and his other hand resting on his hip. "The power of Christ compels you!" Johnny whipped out a small spray bottle of holy water and sprayed the man, to no avail.
He dashed forward and pointed his gun to the boys, who were sat next to each other. The Kid-Mafia stared in shock as Johnny and Joseph were threatened into putting up their hands. "Good. We can either do this the easy way.. or the hard way." The man uttered in a voice just that of Daniel's.
"Have mercy! Don't you know who I am? I'm like.. technically your son! You can't kill me! Please.. don't you have a little bit of Daniel left in you? Or are you just pure evil?" Joseph tried to reason with him, surprisingly making him look deep in thought. As the man stood there, Joseph leapt from his chair and attempted to grab the gun, making 'Daniel' flustered. He backed up and ran back out of the McDonald's, leaving Joseph with the gun as he seemed to disappear down the street.
Joseph stared out the window after the man in pure shock, wandering what on Earth had just happened.
