DRAKE'S POV
"So tell me why did you do it." Aedelle inquired as she cleaned my wounds.
Aedon and Jacob slowly sneak glances from each other before looking at the floor again. They are sitting on the bed with both of their hands placed on top of their knees. They look like kids being scolded by their mom.
"It was my idea from the very first place. Why? Simply because I am expecting you to drive Di home safely." Aedon said referring to me.
I cleared my throat as he continues.
"I giving you my trust Drake because I cant be with her all the time. Do you know how many people wanted to take us down? This world is full of envious people and they'll do everything they can to pull us deep down. And if you still dont get it, Dad has been receiving threats from an anonymous people or group and it has something to do with our family. And I guess you cant take care of Aedelle because of your stupid jealousy."
"Enough Aedon!" Aedelle snapped.
Aedon was quick enough to look at Aedelle and give a bitter smile.
"What now Di? You're going to tell me to stop? Don't you get it? I'm worried about you, your safety and our family. Is it bad for me to care for my only twin? No. This guy deserves a lecture after all. No matter which family he came from, which empire he belongs and how long he trained, he if will keep on leaving you behind-- its pure nonsense. And stop acting like you dont know anything or that you are not threatened." Aedon explained and his eyes moistened with tears which he tried so hard to stop.
I just listened to his words because somewhat, Aedon is right but he's wrong on some parts too. I could even sacrifice myself just to make Aedelle safe.
Aedon suddenly stood up and started walking towards Aedelle's door.
"Aedon where are you going?" Aedelle asked.
He look sideways and smiled to Aedelle.
"I'm just going to inhale some fresh air. I guess I spoke a lot. It's my first time speaking like that I guess I need refreshment." and with that, he waved his hands for dismissal.
"I need to go too." Jacob said.
"Wait"
I stopped him.
He gave me a sideway glance waiting for me to speak.
"Thank you for driving Aedelle home." I uttered with all sincerity.
"No problem. It's my duty to take a responsibility which is supposedly yours, assassin guy." he said before turning his back and leaving the room.
I have no more time to evaluate his words. I'm thinking about Aedon's words and the threats that their family are receiving. I have a feeling that it also has something to do with the REDS.
"Are you okay?" Aedelle asked as she sat beside me with concern all over her face.
I nodded as I gently grabbed her hands and hold it firmly. The warmth it gives calmed me down a little.
"What about you?"
"I'm good. Just don't mind what Aedon said."
"Actually I'm worried too. Is it the reds?" I asked. I'm hoping that it wasn't them because all kinds of people except from the Red Empire are easy to deal with.
Her big round eyes found mine. And she slowly nodded. I followed her gaze and I didn't realize that my hand is already on the back of her neck, slowly pulling her towards me.
Her eyelids fluttered a little and I can see her swallowing saliva.
I smiled before planting a kiss on her soft lips. She closed her eyes and I did the same-- savoring this little moment. It only lasted for 20 seconds before I let go of her very inviting lips.
"I'm really sorry for leaving you earlier Aedelle. Aedon is right, I'm a jerk for letting my jealousy take over. It's just it was my first time having a competition."
"Jacob is no competition Drake." she said.
"Really?"
"Uh-hm. I only have my eyes on you." she said smiling and batting her curled lashes.
"What about your heart then?" I asked.
"Earn it." she giggled before pulling me up.
"Go home now big guy! You dont wanna face Tyranny's tyranny right?"
"What a joke. Mom never scold me." I said but I made my way to her door anyway.
We both stood just outside her door facing each other.
"So, I'm going now?" I said.
But this badgirl just raised her eyebrows.
"I'm really going now." I repeated.
"Bye bye." she said sarcastically.
"I need goodbye kiss." I pouted.
"Kiss your butt. You took advantage of my lips minutes ago."
"Don't call it 'taking advantage' when you enjoyed it yourself." I smirked.
I saw a shade of red on her cheeks and I chuckled.
"Okay okay I'm leaving. Keep your door locked and the windows secured. Call me if you needed something alright?"
"Alright Boss." she saluted.
Although a little frustrated because I wasn't able to get a goodbye kiss, I traveled on my way home smiling and happy.
