Namjoon poked his head in Emma's room to see her asleep, the small room dimly lit by a nightlight. He sighed and closed the door. Hoseok had left about thirty minutes ago and ever since, Namjoon had been wandering around the house in search of something to do.
He couldn't get the thought of Miyuu and Emma's mom out of his head. They were sisters? How come Miyuu never told him? She always said she was an only child and never said anything about a sister or a niece for that matter. Namjoon considered calling and asking her, but he knew it was too late. She would probably be drinking in a bar at this time, wasted and asking around for a ride home.
And Hoseok wouldn't provide any answers, either. It seemed that you had to ask specific questions and only then would he reply. It made Namjoon angry. He knew all this time? He knew and yet he didn't bother to say anything?
Namjoon turned and walked down the stairs. He ventured towards the living room and sat down on the leather couch. He didn't bother turning on the TV, figuring he would mess up it somehow. He wanted to leave. His little friend wasn't awake and he didn't have anything occupying him at the moment. But his prayers were answered when the front door swung open.
"Emma?" a voice called. It sounded drunk or tired, or both. A few slurred giggles rang out and Namjoon stood up. He looked towards the door and made eye contact with the same woman who had dropped Emma off this morning. Only her clothes her wrinkled and her hair was tangled. "Oh, hello there. You're Emma's friend, aren't you?" She smiled and grabbed her purse that hung at her side. She sifted through it while walking over to Namjoon. He could smell alcohol and he began to become uncomfortable.
A long fingernail jammed into his shoulder and the woman waved a hundred dollar bill in his face. "Thanks for babysitting. Hope you're up for it, tomorrow, too." She giggled again and dropped the money, making it float to the floor. She yawned and stumbled over to the stairs. "Good night," she murmured before disappearing upstairs.
"This is what you live with, huh?" Namjoon asked, directing the question to Emma, who was fast asleep in her room.
