Ava's POV

I looked down at the floor in complete shock. I blinked, hoping to see the liquid that just appeared from between my legs disappear. But it didn't. I looked up at the boys slowly and they both just stared back at me, unaware what to say. "This can't be happening. This can't be happening." I began to panic. I wasn't due for another 10 weeks. I wasn't ready. Luke began to sit up to calm me down, but Ashton beat me to it. "Ava your baby's coming. We need to get you some help." Ashton told me calmly, placing his hands on my shoulders. I shook my head at him. "No Ashton this isn't happening right now. I can't do this. I'm not ready." I felt my eyes tingle from the tears forming. His face contorted but then he relaxed. "Yes you can Ava, it's all going to be ok." I could tell he didn't believe what he was saying and by the look on Luke's face neither did he. He led me over to the sofa to sit. "I'm going to get someone ok? I'll be back soon." Ashton told me, before turning around and running out of the room. Luke began to get out of bed and I shook my head at him, but he carried on. Soon, he crouched in front of me, pulling his drip with him. His hands went to my knees and rubbed them gently. "Your baby is coming Ava." Luke said straight. I felt the tears running down my face. "But he's so early Luke, what if he's too early? I can't lose him as well." I sob into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms awkwardly around me, just as Ashton came in with a nurse. "Ava I'll be taking you up to the maternity ward now ok?" The nurse, Karen, said. She'd been looking after Luke so I knew who she was. I nodded wearily and looked between the two boys. "Someone needs to come with her." Luke said, already standing up ready. I shook my head at him and pushed him towards the bed. "You're too ill. I'll be ok on my own I promise." I tried to sound sincere but it came across so scared. The nurse led me to a wheelchair and I gave Luke a quick hug before letting her push me away. Ashton gave me a look I couldn't decipher and I just stared at him in pain. The pain in my abdomen began to increase as we left the room and I gripped the arm rest tightly. We were half way down the corridor when I heard someone shouting us. Ashton ran in front of my wheelchair. "Can I come with you? At least until someone else arrives to help you." He asked. As he spoke I saw a look behind his eyes, a swirling of emotion that I didn't understand. I just nodded and he began to follow. I whimpered as the pain increased even further and I felt Karen speed up. It felt like hours before we entered through the doors to the maternity ward, but once we did it was chaos. Two nurses came rushing towards us and Karen began to talk at them. "This is Ava Williamson, 17. She's 29 weeks pregnant and her waters broke approximately 15 minutes ago. She was in a car accident less than a week ago." One of the midwives took over from pushing me. "Let's get her into a cubicle to be examined and we will go from there." She spoke from behind me. I looked at Ashton who was walking beside me and I grimaced. "I need you to call Liz for me ok? I need her here." He nodded and pointed to the door, signalling he was going outside to make the call. The nurse pushed me into a side room. "I just need you to get on the bed for me ok Ava? Take it slow." She grabbed my hand for support and assisted me on to the bed. "I just need to do a scan to see how baby's doing Ava." She began to pull up my top and spread the gel across my stomach. There was a knock on the door and Ashton entered looking nervous. "She's on her way here, as well as Ben and Jack. Do you want me to wait with you until she comes?" He asked and I nodded in reply. His eyes widened once he realised what was happening and he went to turn away. "It's only a scan Ashton." I would have laughed at him if I wasn't in so much pain. The nurse put the wand on my stomach and began to move it around. I heard a heartbeat soon enough, but it wasn't anywhere near as loud as it had been last week. I watched the nurses reaction and from her face I could tell something was wrong. I whipped my head between the screen and Ashton. He reached forward and grabbed my hand. "I'm sorry to inform you that your baby isn't getting enough oxygen. It could be that the umbilical cord is wrapped around his neck or your body isn't getting enough to him. Unfortunately the scan can't tell. But we need to get him out Ava, now."
