Prologue

Flames danced around the palm of my hand as I waited for the principal to arrive. Fire swirled around my fingers, interlacing in every motion I make. My eyes followed, dazzled by the arm colors emanating from my hand, searing out of my skin.

The doors throbbed open, a middle-aged man stepping foot inside the office. A folder squeezed in between his arm and a gentle smile plastered on his lips. Light shone through the gaps of the curtain-sealed windows, the curtain ends billowing on the ground.

The principal's smile may have drawn a light atmosphere in the room, but his haze says otherwise. He took the seat on the couch parallel to mine, setting the folder on top of the coffee table.

His attention flicked to me; his legs crossed on top of one another. I stiffened, extinguishing the flames that burn in my hand. The flames died out from my palm, its heat lingering through my fingertips.

"Anong problema, Master? Why did you call me?" I asked, glancing down at the folder on top of the table.

"I'll go straight to the point," he began, tapping his resting finger on his knee. "I want you to be the next Student Council President of Clove High,"
