Lena sat her desk in the middle of the busy police precinct, it hadn't been long since she was promoted to Chief Inspector, and she had already solved a number of cold cases that had been unsolvable for years, she truly was a prodigy to herself and she was becoming very well known and respected in the world of the law. She couldn't wait until she was given an office of her own, she was never the biggest fan of people and having to work amongst them all day really took a toll on her.
"Luthor!" The Superintendent called from her office, Lena looked over to where he was standing as she motioned to her to come to him. She stood up stretching her back as she did so before walking into her office and shutting the door behind him. "You have been doing some fantastic work here Luthor" The Superintendent said as she slumped back into her massive chair, that was far to big for her.
"Thank you Superintendent Grant" Lena said as she stood by her desk, maybe this was the time she was finally going to be given her own office, that would be like Christmas had come early. The Superintendent who was a small dainty woman, but don't be fooled by her appearance she was the fiercest woman that Lena had ever met and she couldn't tell if she was scared or attracted to her, the ultimate struggle that Lena faced on a daily basis.
"But I think it's time" Superintendent Grant paused slightly, twiddling a pencil dangerously between her fingers, yes this was it, Lena was sure of it, she was going to get the office of her dreams and sign on the door to match it, her dreams were about to come true. "It's time to give you an apprentice" Superintendent Grant revealed, Lena immediately started coughing and choking on the very air she was breathing in, that was a shock to the system.
"w-w-what?" Lena managed to splutter out in between her series of coughing fits, Superintendent Grant rolled her eyes, not looking impressed, not in one bit. You see Lena had always worked on cases by herself, before she had always been given the choice if she wanted a partner or not and of course she had chosen not, all they did was get in the way, as we have already covered Lena was not at all found of people, especially not having an apprentice, a complete rooking following her around all day. So instead of her wildest dream coming true it looks like her worst nightmare just did.
"You will now be partnering up with a Sergeant Danvers" The Superintendent said, Lena was still gobsmacked at the news, she didn't have the chance to say another word before she was being ushered out of the office and back to her desk in the middle of the crowded precinct. Well at least one thing was for sure things could not get any worse for her thats for sure.
The next day Lena was sitting at her desk by nine am, sharp after Superintendent Grant's multiple warnings about being on best behaviours for the arrival of Sergeant Danvers, who was transferring across from another police department for one reason or another, Lena hadn't cared to much to look into it. Lena took a sip of her steaming hot, black coffee that she had bought at the local coffee shop on her way into work, like she did every morning, it was impossible for her to function without it these days.
"Hello I'm Sargent Danvers and you must be Chief Inspector Luthor!" A bright, high pitched voice said happily from the side of Lena's desk, the brunette looked up and was completely taken a back when she saw the bright cheesy smile and colourful smart dress that Sargent Danvers was wearing, the yellow dress and pearly smile must have been brighter than the sun itself. "I'm so excited to work with you, you're like a celebrity everybody I know talks about you! Well not everyone, but everyone at my old precinct anyway. And oh my god they were all so jealous when they heard I was going to be your new partner and I just can't believe-" Sargent Danvers began on her long rant, and this was far to early for Lena as she took a much needed sip of her coffee.
"Im going to stop you right there." Lena said interrupting the rant which to be honest was going straight through her. "I have three rules." Lena paused again taking another big gulp of coffee, as she felt herself beginning to reenter the world of the living. "Rule number 1, don't talk to me before I have had at least two cups of coffee." Sargent Danvers nodded still smiling brightly, "Rule number 2, turn all of this down at least a notch" Lena said waving her hand at Kara's far to bright choice of clothing, "And rule number 3, don't get in my way." Lena finished, "Do you understand my rules?" She asked, rubbing her temples, Sargent Danvers nodded enthusiastically still smiling brightly despite Lena's firm words. "Good" Lena sighed turning round to face her computer screen, Kara still standing by her side.
"My names Kara by the way!" Kara said loudly, Lena twitched at the sound of her voice which resonated within her.
"You just broke rule number one" Lena groaned, she had a feeling this was going to be a very long year.
