The morning after meeting her new partner that was for a lack of a better word, forced onto her, Lena had received a call for the station asking her to respond as quickly as possible to reports of a homicide, and that's exactly where she had just pulled up to in a brand new, sleek black Mercedes. Just as she was expecting forensics were already on the scene, gathering important bits if evidence, she got out her car slamming the door closed behind her before heading over to one of the forensic officers.
"Finally your here!" A high pitched half, scream came out of no where quickly followed by a bouncy blonde running up to where Lena, who was now stunned, was standing. "Oh my god, have you seen the body yet?! I've never seen anything like it! And not in a good way! Honestly I wish I never had my glasses on!-" Kara exclaimed, her face making to many facial expressions for Lena to interpret in a small amount of time, coupled with that screechy excited tone she had going on.
"Sargent Danvers." Lena's monotone voice rang out just loud enough to stop Kara from spouting out any more nonsense, "as your superior officer, shut the fuck up" She said before turning away from the blonde and carrying on her journey towards the forensic officers.
"I'll just be over here!" Kara called after Lena's figure, the brunette rolled her eyes, that girl really doesn't understand much does she? Lena thought to herself, god why didn't I pick up a coffee on the way. Lena sighed heavily as she motioned to what looked like the head of the evidence gathering operation, the rather geeky looking man walked over to where she stood, rubbing her temples, that blondes dam voice still running through her head, god she need some paracetamol fast.
"What's the story here?" Lena asked looking over the man's shoulders, they were currently standing in a grass field, near a shooting range, just on the outskirts of National City, from what Lena had quickly observed by the blood quite clearly splattered on the grass, it could have easily just been a accidental gun shot, they were on a shooting range after all and you would be surprised at how often that comes up.
"We found the victim lying face down on the grass, but apart from that theres no other evidence, no weapon or any other kind of DNA, but of course we have still to analyse it down in the labs" The man said, sighing, Lena nodded thoughtfully.
"Oh my god what if it was an assassination attempt! The work of a sniper! But that wouldn't explain the mess the victims body was in! Oh, animals could have scavenged from the body after the sniper attack!" Kara's excitable voice came from beside Lena once more, the brunette jumped slightly in surprise, before turning to look at the blonde, trying her very best to keep her cool. Maybe the best plan of action would just be to ignore her, like a child. Lena turned her attention back to the forensics man who could sense the very obvious tension in Lena's face.
"Has the body been transported back to the morgue?" Lena asked, crossing her arms and making a mental note to just pretend that blonde bimbo wasn't practically vibrating with excitement right beside her.
"Yes for the autopsy" The man confirmed and Lena nodded, before muttering her thanks and heading back to her Mercedes, Kara was skipping beside her, turns out she really was a child.
"Wait until you see this body I mean theres and then theres, well you'll see! Oh if I were you I'd hold your nose or something cause the smell is just plain nasty!" Kara said making hand gesture after hand gesture before ranting about something else that Lena was despratley trying to tune out, this tag along was going to make investigating any kind of case significantly more difficult, what had she done to piss of the Superintendent? Lena came to a stop as she reached her car, turning round with the fakest of smiles to face the blonde, who must have already had about twelve espressos that morning with the way she was acting.
"Danvers I'm going to need you to stay here in case theres any other developments at the scene" Lena lied through her teeth, she knew with the lack of evidence the forensics had uncovered there would be no way they would be staying at the scene for much longer, but no way in hell was she prepared to suffer through a whole car journey to the police lab's morgue with that hyperactive mess that somehow managed to get into detecting.
"You got it boss!" Kara exclaimed, saluting Lena as she did so, that blinding smile never once leaving her face, and god Lena was never going to get used to that.
"Great" Lena murmured sarcastically putting on a small smile again before stepping into her car and driving away as quickly as could from the crime scene, but mostly she was trying to get away from Kara as quickly as she could. She looked out her rear view mirror and saw the blonde was still waving goodbye. "nerd" Lena commented to herself, shaking her head sightly.
