The New York precinct arrived at the scene and quickly began their investigation. Lena and Kara stood at the side, Lena getting more and more frustrated that she wasn't allowed to do anything apart from be a witness as all of this was happening out of her jurisdiction. Kara tried her best to take Lena's mind off of the investigation that she was being forced to watch the New York police mess up, in her opinion anyway. But after Lena told Kara to shut up or she as going to be the next body being taken to a morgue for the eighth time, Kara left the brunette alone, thinking it was for the best.
A rather chubby detective approached Lena and Kara who were sitting outside the hotel room, they managed to see him coming through the small crack in the hotel room door, which Lena hoped they would mark as serious evidence.
"Tell me what you saw when you arrived at the scene." The detective asked the two women. Kara looked at Lena, hoping she didn't say something sassy or rude out of frustration, surely Lena was experienced enough to know that if she played nice and kept her cool she could have a shot at being brought onto the case.
"A dead body." Lena said bluntly, rolling her eyes as she leaned back in the chair, Kara's mouth dropped, she so badly wanted to laugh but she knew this was neither the time or the place. The detective's eyebrows furrowed in anger.
"Helpful." He muttered before storming back into the hotel room, Lena raised an eyebrow, wondering why her never pushed her further for questions, he probably just didn't want to risk another cop from a different precinct being better at the job than him, especially since she was a woman. Lena motioned to Kara as she started walking back to their hotel room. At least this was a good enough excuse for her to get out of that stupid conference.
The two women arrived back in their hotel room. Lena flumped down on the bed with a loud groan, what the hell were they going to do now, they weren't even staying in the nice part of New York, so leaving the hotel room was not an option unless they wanted to be cold and bored.
"Look what I found!" Kara said as she pulled a board game out of a cupboard in the hotel room, which Lena recognised to be Monopoly. "Lets play!" Kara said excitedly as she started setting it up on the kitchen table in their room. Lena shrugged as she went and sat at the table, she may as well do this to relive the frustration that she was feeling, she could just take it all out on Kara now and blame the game for it. excellent.
"Okay Danvers you're on." Lena said with a small competitive look storming in her emerald eyes. Kara rolled the dice, but before she made her first move she had a brilliant idea burst into her mind.
"Loser buys a round at the uber expensive hotel bar?" She said questioningly. Lena chuckled, shaking her head. She did not expect this from Kara, who knew the blonde could actually make things interesting.
"Deal, I hope you brought your credit card." Lena said slyly, a laugh now embracing her usual monotone, unimpressed voice.
"Right back at you." Kara giggled, taking her first turn, no way was she losing to Lena, the brunette did not need any more confidence boosts, that was in fact the last thing that she needed.
After at least three hours of playing the game, and telling gossip, and making fun of other officers in their precinct Lena and Kara were laughing across the table from each other. Kara had won the game, and Lena was trying to figure out a way to get out of the deal they had made with each other earlier in the day. Suddenly Lena had an idea, why not embrace what Cat had said about her and Kara being a good match romantically. They were having a great time now after all. And Lena would be lying if she said she didn't find Kara's aura attractive. She felt like she was already falling hard from the blonde, and admitting this to herself just made it difficult to concentrate on anything else other than the blonde.
Lena leapt across the table and crashed her lips into Kara's wrapping her legs around the strong blondes waist. The two of them fell onto the floor with laughter, the kiss continuing through their antics.
Suddenly Lena got a text message which made her pull away still on top of the blonde who was beginning to explore other parts of Lena's beautiful body as she Lena looked at her text from Cat Grant. Lena'a mouth ran dry as she read the text over and over again, not wanting it to be true. As she was doing this Kara's phone also went off, she looked down and saw a google alert which candidly read:
Detective Lena Luthor's DNA found on homicide Victims body at New York hotel..
Kara pushed Lena off of her lap, tears building up in her eyes as she showed Lena the alert,
"Care to explain?" Kara said fuelled by anger, this of course was what Cat had texted Lena about, her past had come back to haunt her. Yet again.
