Lena had just finished telling the Superintendent the name of the victim, which was 'Mike Daxam' and Kara seemed to have to remind the other two women in the room that it was her genius that found the medical ID in the long grass. Lena however managed to keep her fleeting temper under control, She had to hand it to her Kara did a good job, even if she was being the biggest pain in Lena's ass as she did it.
Lena and Kara left Superintendent Grant's office with praise for once, Kara was beaming ear to ear and Lena couldn't help but let a small smile slip at the sight of the blonde looking so happy, she still annoyed the hell out of her though. Lena walked back to her desk, Kara following her like a lost puppy.
"What should we do now? Oh my god maybe theres more missing clues back at the field? We could go back and check?" Kara asked question after question, and Lena's patience was starting to be worn down by the blonde who was practically skipping through the precinct looking as happy as Larry. She was just one big kid. Lena finally reached her desk, as she checked the time realising it was already past seven at night, to late to do anything worthwhile, and Lena wasn't really a paperwork ind of girl, she would just order Kara to do that at some point in the future when she really needs a break from her. Like a get out of jail free card, if you will.
"There you are" a deep manly voice came from the other side of Lena's desk, Kara looked between Lena and the man in confusion, as she saw the brunette crack a small smile. Kara's heart skipped a beat when she saw Lena's eyes soften, looking at the man, and she swore thats the first time she had ever seen her smile.
"James I'm so sorry I missed our reservation" Lena said sadly as she put on her coat, James shook his head a small smile on his own lips.
"I know by now that you always work late, I pushed our reservation to eight so you even have time to get changed." He explained, as he kissed Lena softly on her dark red lips. Kara couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of jealously as he pulled back. Lena laughing as she wiped the lipstick stain off of his lips. This was the most quiet Kara had been all day, just watching Lena and James curiously.
"This is why I love you" Lena giggled adorably, as James laced their fingers together, Kara's once cheesy grin was now completely gone from her face.
"Let's get going" James said happily, but just as the pair were about to walk out of the precinct Kara grabbed onto Lena's swaying hand, the brunette turned around swiftly scowling at the blonde as she pulled her hand away violently.
"Kara what the hell?!" Lena growled.
"So this is the famous Kara?" James asked, standing beside Lena, Kara had almost forgotten his existence, she was to focused on Lena at this point in time. Lena nodded, confirming Kara's identity to what Kara was going to assume was Lena's boyfriend.
"Wait you know who I am?" Kara asked curiously. James chuckled slightly, Lena gave him a warning look to not say anything else but he ignored her. Big mistake.
"Of course Lena talks about you all the time" James admitted not letting go of Lena's hand, This brought the smile back into Kara's eyes and onto Kara's face. She turned her attention to Lena again, and she saw the deep frown set on Lena's face.
"You talk about me?" Kara asked, Lena groaned, as she turned around and strutted away from the blonde, dragging James along behind her. "Lena-"
"Tomorrow Blondie!" Lena shouted over her shoulder, her cheeks holding a little more colour than usual which surprised her.
"But-"
"Tomorrow!" Lena cut her off again, she had, had quite enough of Kara for one day and she sure as hell wasn't sticking around for any longer than she had to. Kara watched as Lena and James left the precinct hand in hand, she slumped down on Lena's chair at her desk, sighing, happy for some reason that Lena took enough notice of her to be able to talk about her to people in her personal life. The twinge of jealousy that Kara felt surprised her, she had never been a jealous person, not ever, and she didn't even know Lena that well. It'd not like they were anything more than work partners, and if Lena had her way they wouldn't even be that.
"He's hot right?" A voice came from behind her, Kara whipped round to see one of the other police officers watching her carefully.
"What?" Kara asked, disorientated after being pulled out of her own thoughts.
"Lena's boyfriend is hot, do you not think?" The officer asked again, a curious look on her face. If Kara was honest she hadn't really noticed the man on Lena's arm, she only wished she was standing in his place, which confused Kara greatly.
"Yeah he's something else" Kara agreed, thinking that was the best option, she spun back round in Lena's chair breathing in slightly, the smell of Lena filling her nostrils. "but so is she" Kara whispered under her breath so only she could hear.
