Chapter Nine

Max starts to smile as they begin retreating. He growls loudly as they all scurry away. He and his pack start to shift as they see that no one is left. The other packs that helped them start heading into the woods. Max remembers that Andrew was in pain and rushes to the medical room. He sees a ton of people, but doesn't find Andrew. "Andra." He yells getting her attention. She looks at him and throws him a pair of pants. He quickly pulls them on and catches up to her. "Andra, where's Andrew?"

"He was put in a stationary room. He's wasn't looking so good." She says and he nods his head. He walks along the rooms trying to find him in one. After looking at four he sees Andrew.

"Andrew, hey man." He says. Andrew glances at him, but Max knows he's in serious pain.

"Hey, what did they do to you?" He asks taking a seat by the bed. Andrew shakes his head a little. "What?" Max asks looking at him confused. Nicole's...pain. He says through the mind ink. "Nicole hurt and you feel it?" He asks to make sure he understands. Andrew nods his head. "But...that doesn't make any sense, you shouldn't be in this much pain if..." Max grabs his head trying to understand. He gets up and runs out of the room to find Andra. Mates can feel each other's pain, but it's normally just a soreness or slight stinging, it doesn't cripple them.

He sees Andra stitching up and runs to her. "Andrew says it's Nicole who's in pain, but why is he hurting so much? I know we feel our mates pain, but he shouldn't be hurting this much. Should he?" He rushes confused.

"Go and get Addison and tell her what you told me, just with no questions." She says not looking at him as another wolf is brought in. He nods his head looking for her. He finds her in one of the rooms talking with someone he can't see.

"Addison, I need you when you are done." He says getting her attention. She looks at him and nods before finishing talking to Matt, a friend of his father's.

"What is it?" She asks walking out of the room towards Max.

"Andrew, he's feeling the pain of his mate's, Nicole, but he can't seem to fight the pain and he's....he's in a lot of pain." He says rushing down to Andrew's room. Addison checks a few things and asks Andrew to move around, but he starts groaning in pain.

"His mate is Nicole, the one that we haven't found?" She asks and Max nods. "And the Blachhunter's wanted revenge, so what they are probably doing is injecting her with silver. Because you to haven't fully mated you can't help her fight, you just feel what she feels, plus the pain of being separated. Why it's so bad I'm unsure, but I can give you something to try and relieve the pain, but I-" Andrew shakes his head and she nods understanding. "Does she know you are her mate?" She asks and he looks up at her before shaking her head. "Question is how hasn't she figured it out?"

"There's something blocking her wolf from the knowledge of it. It makes it harder for me to see if she's lying, but she doesn't know. It could have been from the trauma that she's experienced. She was really young when that war happened, and say she hit her head, but didn't say anything, her brain is trying to heal itself and because of that, her wolf can't get the hints. It's also why her wolf sometimes leaves her and she can't always talk with her." Avery says walking into the room.

"Her wolf can leave her?" Max asks in shock. Avery nods her head and then Andrew feels another round of pain. He yells into the pillow and Avery puts her hand on his hot, sweaty forehead.

"We have to find her, and soon. She's not going to handle much more." Avery says and Addison nods her head. She runs out of the room and Avery looks back to her brother. "You need to talk to her, she's given up. She doesn't care if she lives or dies." She says and Andrew slightly nods his head.
