Chapter Twenty

"So you threatening her makes her stay in the pack house because she wants to stay with Maddie and Maggie?" Max asks trying to understand.

"She wants to go off for a run and does, but can't fight them all off. I see it in a vision and then I come up with the idea, but what I didn't realize is it kills Andrew." She says and puts her hands into her hair.

"This is messed up. Why can't you just warn the pack when the rogues are near? Then no one dies and you don't have to be the bad guy." He asks annoyed with thinking he's going to lose either of them. She slams her hands into the ground feeling frustrated.

"I don't know that information. I can't just ask and receive. I don't know how I figured about why I threaten her. This is new and no one else knows what to do with it or to help me. Stop expecting me to know what to do." She yells and shakes her head. "I don't know what I can do or how to control what happens." She says more calmly.

"Avery, I'm not mad at you, just the situation and not being able to do anything about it." He says and she laughs.

"Welcome to my f*cking world." She says a little bitterly. Max realizes that she must go through this all the time and no one understands it. She's all alone with this and can't really talk to anyone about it. "I don't know what to do. I don't talk to her she's killed if I even remember this when the time comes, or I do talk to her and kill my brother. There has to be something I'm missing. Neither of them can die, neither of them can lose the other. They can't handle losing each other." She says sighing. Max moves next to her and she leans against him. "What the hell am I supposed to do?" She asks, but Max stays silent not knowing how to solve the problem.

Andrew paces in his room trying to make sense of what Avery had said. Since when does she see everything that's going to happen? Why does she hate Nicole? He can't stop the questions spinning around his head.

Addison walks into the room hearing a very fast heartbeat. She sees Andrew with his head bent and keeps mumbling to himself. "Andrew?"

"Hum..yeah, what?" He asks looking up at her.

"Is everything alright?" She asks and he nods his head.

"Just..family issues." He says and smiles. She nods her head but doesn't believe it's the truth. She walks over to Nicole ready to begin doing a checkup when her eyes pop open. She struggles with the tube down her as she tries to breath on her own. "Nicole, Nicole, just stop moving. I'll take it out." She says and Nicole stops looking scared. Andrews already by her side and grabs her hand.

Addison takes the tube out and Nicole takes in large gasps of breath. "Why..why couldn't I breath?" She asks grabbing her throat.

"You were having trouble so I put it in to help, but I don't know why when you started to do it on your own it wouldn't give you any oxygen. Is your nosepiece working?" She asks. Nicole closes her mouth and tries to breath through her nose, but can't.

"No." She says and Addison begins removing it.

"Luckily you woke up. I don't know what's wrong with the machine." She says looking down at it. "Ok, well, do you feel pain anywhere? Or any headache?" Nicole shakes her head and sees her right arm wrapped in a ton of bandages. "That's good. Look at my finger." She says before shining a light into her eyes. "Looks good. Move your toes." She says lifting the blanket up. She moves them and Addison smiles. "Alright move your fingers." She moves her fingers but sees both Addison and Andrew looking at her left. She looks over and sees her hand lying on the bed and it's a light purple/blue color. She lifts her arm up, but her hand just hangs.

"Addison, what's wrong? Why can't I move my 'and?" She asks feeling panic set in. She can't move her own hand.

"Nicole, calm down. There was some nerve damage to your hand. I want you to see if you can make a fist." She says. Nicole looks down at her hand trying, but it not doing anything. "That's alright, you just woke up. It's going to take time for it to heal." She says, but Nicole can't remove her eyes from her limp hand. Addison looks up at Andrew with sad eyes.
