Today was the day of the finals and Shawn's first vine meet up.

***

We finished our final routine and waited to find out the results. I felt there were so many things I did wrong or could've done better but what's done is done, we can't do it again. As we sat down my hands were sweating and they could not stop shaking. Everyone went silent as the judges stood on stage.
"On behalf of every school we would like to thank everyone who took helped out and took part in this years championship."
Everyone clapped.
"All the judges have discussed each performance in great detail and have chosen a winner."
Gabby grabbed my hand, I looked over and everyone in our team was holding hands.
"The school that earned themselves an impressive third place is..."
He paused making the suspense worse. "California's academy of Dance."
A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as we clapped congratulating them.
"The runners up are Juilliard School of Dance."
Everyone clapped and my mouth dropped.
"Which means, the school in first place and winners of the national dance championships are Toronto's School of performing arts."
I immediately hugged Gabby and then everyone else joined in. We all then got up, accepted out medals and had a group picture taken. Emma accepted the cheque and then we all headed back to the hotel. I rang Shawn whilst I was changing out of my completion clothes.
He answered after a couple of rings. "Hey, how did it go?"
"We won!"
"No way! I'm so proud of you England! I found this amazing restaurant on the way to the meet up and I'm taking you out tonight to celebrate."
"But I have nothing to wear."
"You can wear anything England and still look stunning, I'll pick you up at 8."
"Okay."
I made my way over to Gabby's room and knocked on her door. Maybe she'll have something for me to wear. She opened the door with a bottle of vodka in her hand.
"Celebrating already?" I smirked.
"You know it, what can I do for you?"
"Did you bring any clothes suitable for a date with you."
"Of course I did are you stupid?"
"Can I borrow them for a night please?"
"Have you got a date?"
"Maybe."
She grabbed my arm and pulled me in.
"With who?"
"A guy from my old school, he's in New York and just rang me saying he wants to celebrate by taking me out."
"That's so sweet." She looked through her closet and picked out a black lace bralette and dark grey cardigan before handing them to me.
"Thanks."
"No problem." She raised her eyebrows slightly "It looks a lot sexier if you wear the cardigan off the shoulders."
I checked the time and then quickly rushed to my room. It was 7:50.
I quickly put my hair in a messy pony tail and then put on some light makeup.
I put on the jeans, top and cardigan and then looked in the mirror. I pushed the cardigan off my shoulders and then double checked everything. I picked up my phone and then waited outside. A cab approached a few moments after and Shawn got out. I ran and jumped on him hugging him as tight as I could. I missed him so much. He spun me around and then we got into the cab. The driver drove us to a restaurant and we got out. Shawn took my hand in his and we entered the restaurant. It was the cutest and possibly my favourite restaurant ever. They had actual swings hanging from the ceiling as seats and the only light showing was from candles set all around the room. I turned to Shawn. "This place is amazing."
The waitress took us to a table and we ordered a our drinks.
"How was the meet up?" I asked him.
"It was unreal. So many people turned up." He paused "Part of the reason why I took you out tonight was to tell you that me and Andrew have been discussing a lot of things and I'm going to realise an EP."
"WHAT!!" I shouted.
Shawn laughed. "I can't believe it either."
"That's incredible." I held his hands on the table. "I'm so proud of you."
"But that means I have to stay in New York for a few more days."
"That's ok, you're coming over to England what more can I ask."
We ordered our food and it wasn't long until the waitress brought it over. I looked around. "This may be my new favourite restaurant."
He took a bite of his food. "I have a confession to make."
"And what's that?"
"I didn't find this place on the way to the meet up, I asked your mum for advice on what restaurants you like and she found this."
I smiled. "Shes always had a nack for finding these sort of things."
We finished our meal and then headed back to the hotel. He walked me to my door and then we said goodbye. Before he left he handed me a wrapped present.
"What's this?"
"It's your Christmas present."
"I thought we weren't getting eachother anything."
"I know but I saw this the other day and I couldn't resist."
He waited for me to open it.
"I'm not opening it."
"Why?"
"Because it's not Christmas."
He groaned. "But I won't see you until after Christmas."
"Fine." I started to unwrap it. "I hope you appreciate I'm breaking my rule for you Mendes."
Wrapped in the paper was a small jewellery box. I took the lid off and slid it underneath. Sitting in the bottom of the box was a white beaded bracelet with one black bead in the middle and sitting ontop was a note
Distance is just a test to see how far love can travel.
I chuckled as I read it.
He went to take the note off me. "It's cheesy I'll get rid of it."
I stopped him. "No I like it."
He took my hand and gently slid the bracelet on my arm. "I figured, if I do get somewhere with my music, we may have to be apart for some time so when you wear this you will think of me and when I wear mine I'll think of you."
I smiled and kissed him. "I love it, thank you."
He kissed me again and checked his watch after. "I should get going, you've got a long day of flying tomorrow and I have to be up early for meetings with Andrew."
I sighed. "Okay."
"I'll see you after Christmas." He gave me one last kiss goodbye and then left.
