Chapter 12

Sam, Ms. Langley and I went to the orphanage to go pick up my few belongings. Ms. Langley helped me pack while Sam took my things to the car. All my things fit in the two backpacks that I owned. After I finished packing I began to say goodbye to the kids. Some pleaded me to stay, others made me promise to go back and visit them. Afterwords I went into Ms. Richards' office and told her I was going to live with Sam. We said our goodbye and I promised to come visit sometime.

I looked around at the place which was my home for almost half my life, thinking about all the friends I made and lost. I said goodbye to everyone one last time before I began to walk out the door. I walked out and closed the door behind me, trying to memorize the way the building looked.

"Goodbye." I whispered once more before I got into the van and closed the door on my way to my new home. Or so I thought.

"They want me to WHAT?!" I asked Mr. Sullivan, my voice incredibly high and my eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

"I know it's a lot to ask for Sammy--" Mr. Sullivan began.

"NO! Absolutely not!" Sam cut him off. "There is no way Sammy is going to live with those guys! She doesn't even know them! And she's a girl! And they are three guys! What if they find out or worse they try to do something to her!? NO WAY! She's staying here with me."

"Sam if she stays here then you lose your position in the band." Mr. Sullivan told us gravely.

"WHAT?" I asked again. "No! I can't let them take you out of the band! I don't care if I have to dress up and be a boy for 3 months you are staying in the band!"

"But Sammy what about school? You want to finish high school and then get into a good college. How are you going to do that when you can't even go to school because you have to live with those--"

"Sam relax." I cut him off, "I can just take online classes. I'll say I had an accident, and can't go to school for a couple of months. This way I can stay in school and be in the band."

"What if you get behind?"

"These are self paced classes. I just have to finish before I graduate and I'll be alright."

"Sammy I don't know. I don't want you to do this. It's too much for me to ask you."

"Sam it doesn't matter! You offered to pay for my classes both high school and college. This is the least I can do. Just let me do it ok?"

Sam hesitated then finally agreed. "Alright. But if one of them DARES TOUCH A HAIR ON YOUR HEAD I SWEAR I WILL BEAT THEIR FACE IN SO BAD THAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE GROUND BEEF."

"Thanks Sam. I know it's hard for you to let your little sister live with three strangers but I'm doing this for you."

"If you really want to do this then why don't you cut your hair? You can't be wearing a wig all the time." He said smugly. Sam knew how much I loved my hair. When we were younger I cried whenever he threatened to cut my hair. I looked down and began to play with my hair, hiding the concerned look on my face. I was really going to miss my hair. I had always wanted to cut my hair short but never had the courage to do it.

"Can I go get a haircut tomorrow then? And I'll need clothes too! Can we go to the mall too!"

"After Henry and I go talk to the people at your school then we will take you to get a hair cut. After the hair cut we'll go shopping for guy clothes."

"Good, I've been meaning to get a haircut anyways." I said a little forcefully. "Mr. Sullivan when do I have to move in?"

"Call me Henry, after all I'm your manager now. Barstow wants you to move in Saturday."

"Wait this Saturday?" My head snapped back up. "That's like two days from now!! We can't wait till tomorrow! I must get a haircut now!!"

"Well it's 6:30 now. Hurry up and get in the car. I'll take you to my stylist."

"Ok I'll start getting ready then." I ran to the restroom and changed to my clothes and put the bow back on, memorizing the feel and length of my hair. Dammit I'm really going to miss my hair. Ah I just hope I look ok after I've chopped it all off.
