Chapter 13

When I woke up the next day I almost screamed because it took me a while to remember where I was. Then I remembered what I did yesterday. I went to the coffee shop and met a handsome guy who turned out to be part of my brother's band, I cross dressed for most of the day, got accepted into my brother's band, moved in with my brother only to be told that I'd have to move in with three strangers in less that two days, and was forced to chop off all my long wonderful hair. Ah I missed my hair!

I got up and walked towards the nearest mirror and stared at my own reflection. My hair was cut into a boy cut, barely covering my ears and almost half my hair became my bangs. With the right clothes I could pass as a boy.

A sudden noise startled me. I walked out of my room and headed toward the sound. This lead me to the kitchen where Sam was trying hard to make breakfast with little success.

Dry pancake mix covered part of the counter and floor, egg shells around the trash can, a puddle of milk and more dry pancake mix surrounded a container of pancake batter. Sam was struggling to put spray on butter in a pan and turning on the stove when I walked up behind him.

"What are you doing?" I asked even though I already knew the answer.

Sam jumped at the sound of my voice, then turned around looking a little frustrated.

"You aren't suppose to be up yet! I wanted to make you breakfast, it was going to be a surprise but I guess it's too late now."

"You can still make me breakfast." I pointed out.

"It's not the same."

"Want me to help you? It looks like you need it." I replied, gesturing towards the huge mess he made in the kitchen.

"Please?" Sam tried making goggly eyes at me.

"Only because you're my brother. And because you look like an idiot when you try to cook."

I began to remix the batter while Sam turned on the stove. When the pan was hot enough I poured in some batter and began to make pancakes and clean the mess he made. Sam hobbled over to the fancy coffee maker and made us both a cup of coffee. The delicious smell of pancakes and coffee made my stomach growl. I made a couple of pancakes then went to sit at the kitchen table.

"You should get ready." he said in between bites of his pancakes.

"Why?"

"Henry is coming at 9 to pick me up. He's bringing Amelia with him. While Henry and I go to your school and speak to the principal about the 'accident' you and Amelia will go clothes shopping."

I blinked at him a couple of times before the information set in. I looked around frantically for anything that had the time. I finally found a clock. It read 8:50. I turned to Sam.

"You chose NOW to tell me? I don't even have time to get ready!" I finished my pancake as quickly as possible and ran toward my room almost falling as my socks slid on the wood floor.

I grabbed the clothes from yesterday, ran to the restroom and began to quickly wrap my chest. I put on a muscle shirt under the oversized shirt from yesterday and then put on the loose fitting jeans and my combat boots. I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I was yanking a comb threw my hair when I heard a knock on the door. Crap I'm not ready yet!

I walked to the front door and looked into the peep hole and saw a familiar face. I opened the door.

"Good morning Henry. Good morning Amelia. Sorry I'm not ready yet. Sam told me we were going somewhere like ten minutes ago." I stepped aside to let them both come in.

"That's alright," Henry replied. "Sam is probably not ready yet either."

As if on cue Sam walked into the living room still in his pajama pants and white T-shirt.

"Sam what the heck? Why aren't you ready yet?! I thought we where leaving right now!" I told him angrily. Argh I could have finished breakfast!

He looked at me clearly annoyed, "Do you know how difficult it is to get dressed when you have a BROKEN LEG?!" He hobbled away towards his room and emerged about ten minutes later in dark jeans and a white button down shirt. I took this time to continue stuffing my face with pancakes and coffee. After I finished I ran to the restroom and brushed my teeth.

Sam went to the restroom to fix his hair and brush his teeth while Amelia, Henry and I talked in the living room. We all tried to come up with a convincing story as to how I was injured and couldn't go back to school.

We finally settled on a car accident. Sam and I in the car, Sam driving while I sat in the passenger's seat. A car crashed into us hitting the passenger's side. I would have received a couple of broken ribs and lots of cuts all over my body while Sam only got a few cuts and a broken leg.

Amelia put some make up on Sam so it looked like he had a few small cuts and a huge bandage on his head. Sam rolled up his sleeves so Amelia could keep putting make up on his arms. The finished product looked very convincing. Henry explained the story to Sam that way he would know exactly what to say when they got to the school.

After Amelia finished up Sam's "cuts" we began to head toward the van. Henry and Sam sat in the front two seats while Amelia and I sat in the back. Henry drove us to the nicest mall I had ever seen and told Amelia and I that he would return with Sam in a couple of hours.

Amelia and I got out of the van and began to walk toward the entrance of the mall. I turned around and waved at Sam and Henry as the drove away. When I turned around I saw Amelia smiling at me, excitement filling her eyes.

"Shall we shop?" She reached her hand and clasped mine as she dragged me into the mall.
