Chapter 9
We walked down a long hallway and made two right turns until we arrived at a big room with wood floors, one wall made up of mirrors, and several different instruments. A beautiful black acoustic guitar caught my eye. I began to look around and I saw a long table with three people seated behind it, two men and a woman. Both men had short hair and one had glasses. The lady had shoulder length hair and a really nice shirt. I was kind of tempted to ask her where she got it but then I remember why I was here. They all smiled at me and asked me to introduce my self.
"Hello, my name is Samuel Green, I'm 18 years old. I can sing, play guitar and piano." The guy in the middle asked me to sing or play any song I wanted. I excused myself and walked toward the beautiful black guitar. I picked it up along with a guitar pick, sat down on a chair and began to play Those Days. I closed my eyes and began to imitate my brother's singing adding emotion as I sang. I figured they would interrupt me at some point in the song but surprisingly they left me finish.
After Those Days they asked me to play another song on the piano. I decided to try playing You and I, a much happier song. As soon as I began playing I began to sway with the music as I played. I sang my heart out during that song. Again the two men and woman listened until I finished.
When I finished they asked me to sing a sad song. I played On my Mind while still on the piano. Then I walked over to the guitar and played My Love. While I played I poured out as much emotion as my brother does when he sings. Yet again they listened until I finished playing.
Once I played the last note of My Love they all stood up and clapped. I was surprised but bowed politely as I said my thanks. The women spoke first.
"That was amazing! Your voice is so beautiful and versatile! I got goosebumps during the really emotional songs but felt warm and tingly inside during the more lighthearted songs."
"I agree," said the man with the glasses. "Your style of music is special. You have a lot of potential." Lastly the man in the middle spoke.
"You're amazing Sam and we would love to have you join Blue Me Away. Your voice and style fit theirs perfectly," he began. "We will schedule a meeting with you and your manager later on this week to discuss your contract and so you can meet your fellow band members."
My head began to spin so fast I almost couldn't think straight. Where they saying what I thought they said? Could I have really tricked them into thinking I was Sam? More importantly did I get him the spot in this band?
The next thing I knew the three of them stood in front of me and began to shake my hand. I shook their hands, still dazed as I began to follow the escort out. "Congrats of the position in the band." She said smiling. I mumbled my thanks and returned the smile, still trying to sort everything out in my head.
She opened the door leading to the waiting room. I walked in and began to tell Mr. Sullivan what happened when a voice interrupted me.
"Are you Sam's manager?" I turned around and saw the man who helped judge my audition.
"Yes." Mr. Sullivan replied, "May I help you?"
"I am Alistar Barstow, the CEO of this company and I'd love to have Sam be a part of Blue Me Aw--"
Just as he was about to finish his sentence a really handsome guy came running out. He was a couple of inches taller than me with curly light brown, almost golden, hair that fell over his beautiful green eyes, a nice nose and cute thin lips. Over all he looked adorable, like someone you'd want to stick in your pocket. He looked down at me smiling, his green eyes filled with excitement.
"Hi. I'm Ethan, the drummer of Blue Me Away. You're Sam right?" He asked me. His voice was lively and cute. He started jumping up and down happily.
"Yes." I answered. As soon as the word left my mouth two other handsome guys walked into the room. At this point Natalie could all but throw herself at them. Nate kept her in her seat and he forced her to walk in front of him as they walked outside.
Ethan turned to the other two gentlemen and began to introduce them.
"This is Collin and Alex, they are my band mates." He gestured to them as he said their names.
Collin was very handsome with reddish brown hair, stormy gray eyes and a sharp jawline, however he would have been even more handsome if he smiled. He had a permanent scowl on his face and barely acknowledged my presence.
When I turned to see Alex my eyes widened. IT WAS THE GUY FROM THE COFFEE SHOP! WHAT IF HE RECOGNIZED ME? HE WOULD PROBABLY TELL THEM AND I WOULD BE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!! THIS IS SO BAD OMYGOODNESS THIS IS SOOOO BAD!!!
I tried not to panic. He only saw me for one minute, two max. And besides that was hours ago. There is no way he remembers my face. I think. I hope...
"Sorry about Ethan. He really wanted to meet you today. We saw you audition just now and were really impressed. You sound amazing." Alex explained.
When they saw my confused face Mr. Barstow began to explain. "Remember the mirrors in the practice room? The ones right behind the table I was seated in?" I nodded.
"Those are actually oneway mirrors. There is a room on the other side where our artists vote on who they liked better based on talent. In this case Collin, Alex, and Ethan were in the room voting on the new member. The other young men who auditioned only got Alex or Ethan's votes but you got all three of their votes."
"That means a lot since Collin doesn't usually like other dude singers." Ethan began "You should--" he stopped when Alex placed a hand on his shoulder and saw Collin give him a mean look. I could see things weren't going to go well between Collin and I.
"Thank you for choosing me. I promise to do my best and--" Collin didn't even let me finish he just walked off like if he had better things to do. Ethan went after his to try to calm him down.
"Sorry about Collin. He's always been the lead singer and he's scared the fans will like you more. Anyways it was nice meeting you Sam. See you soon." I jumped when Alex pat my back. He smiled and walked after his friends.
I felt warm and tingly on the spot he patted my back. I shook my head, I needed to focus. I can't be falling for a guy I just met. This guy is now my band mate and it would just make things really uncomfortable.
Mr. Sullivan arranged a date and time we would meet with the other members as well as Mr. Barstow so we could look over the contract. I stood there listening politely. When everything was set we said goodbye to my new boss and left the building.
