Chapter 17
"What do you mean his room isn't ready yet?" Asked Collin, his voice dripping with impatience. "I'm not going to share a room with him! You all had the entire day to get it ready! He can sleep on the couch for all I care!" He said, his grey eyes stormy as we walked toward what I suspect was his room and slammed the door shut. Sheesh why did he hate me so much? Isn't not like I asked to share a room with him. As far as I could tell I didn't even say I wanted to share a room with any of them...
"Sorry about him Sam." said James. "He's very particular about his stuff and it takes him a long time to get use to new people. Please be patient with him and give him time." James turned toward the guys and said "Ok so which one of you wants to let Sam crash your room for the night?"
"I'll let him take my room. I've always wanted to try out the pull out bed on the couch." Alex said as he began to run toward the couch and throw himself on it, causing throw pillows to fly into the air and land on the floor.
"Are you sure? It's your room and I don't want to intrude..." I began to oppose his suggestion.
"Just take the room. Collin won't let you get 10 feet near to his room and Ethan sleeps like a crazy person. He kicks around all over the place and talks in his sleep." I looked over to Ethan who was rubbing the back of his neck and smiling, looking a bit embarrassed.
"But it's your room."
"Technically you are the guest so you get the good bed." Alex replied, "Plus I'm already comfy." He said as he began to hug one of the throw pillows still on the couch.
"If you insist." I said as James began to lead me to Alex's room. We walked down the hallway and stopped in front of the second door on the left. James turned toward me and said, "Sorry again that the room isn't ready. The bed was supposed to be delivered today while we were having dinner at the restaurant but for some reason the delivery people never showed. I'm going to call the store tomorrow and try to get the bed and other furniture here ASAP."
"Don't worry about it James. I don't mind sleeping on the couch for a couple of days." I replied smiling.
"Well hopefully it's only a few days. Anyways sleep well, we have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." He said as he patted my back and then turned to head toward the front door and out into the night.
I turned to face the door of Alex's room and took a deep breath before I opened the door and began to search for the light switch. After a couple of seconds I found it and flipped it on. The room was instantly filled with a warm, white glow. I brought my suit case in, set it down on the floor and began to look around the room.
His room was big and painted a really pretty shade of blue with gray curtains and wood floor. At the center of his room was a huge bed with lots of pillows and a pair of really nice headphones. Matching nightstand and dresser where on either side of the bed up against the wall. The left side of the room had a big bookshelf filled with some of the classics as well as other more modern books, a few of which I had been meaning to read. There was a keyboard and 3 guitars in one corner of the room next to a desk filled with sheet music and an open laptop. The desk was facing one of the windows in his room, overlooking the beautiful night sky. The other window had been converted into a window nook with just enough space to lie down and maybe read a good book.
I opened my suitcase began to rummaging around for my manly pjs, and toiletries. I got up and started for the restroom when I realized I never asked anyone where the restroom was. I looked around the room until I found a door and opened it only to realize it was a walk in closet.
Jackets, shirts and pants lined the walls. A bunch of shoes were lying on the floor and some were up against the wall. He had a couple of hats and scarfs hanging up as well as lots of sunglasses on top of a small table. I walked out and closed the door before I looked around even more. I was scared I'd find a pair of underpants or something equally embarrassing.
I walked toward the living room and asked, "Hey Alex, where's the bathroom?"
"Down the hall, second door on the right." He said as he was beginning to get up.
"Where are you going?" I asked, hoping he wasn't going to use the restroom.
"To my room so I can get my pajamas and change." He said matter-of-factly.
"Oh ok." I replied "Thanks for letting me stay in your room." I said again. I was still a little impressed he was letting me sleep in his room. Most people wouldn't give up their bed for a random stranger.
"Don't mention it." He smiled warmly. It was the type of smile that touched his eyes and I willed myself not to melt into a puddle right then and there. He turned and began to walk toward his room.
I stood there looking stupid for a couple of seconds then remembered I had to go pee so I started for the bathroom. But being the idiot I am I forgot which side of the hallway it was on: right or left. I decided to pick the door on the left. I mean there was a fifty-fifty chance I had the right door.
I opened the door only to find a half-naked man's back. My eyes opened wide and my cheeks began to flush as I tried my hardest not to look at his muscular back and arms. Alex, who was in the middle of putting on his shirt, turned around and said "Hey I thought you were going to the bathroom." I quickly turned around saying "Sorry!" repeatedly as I ran to the restroom.
I locked the door and put the toilet seat down and sat, trying to get my thoughts together and process what I had just seen. He was just so perfect! Handsome features, lovely personality, and he's just so nice!
Gah I wish I wasn't doing this! If I wasn't then I would have never meet Alex or any of the guys and none of this would be happening.
I wouldn't be stressing about being a guy and I certainly wouldn't start feeling... whatever it is I'm feeling. I'd be at school where my biggest problem was showing up to class late and maybe getting a "C" on a math quiz. Life would be so much simpler....
But I must do this. If anything else just so that Sam will be happy. I owed it to him.
But I can't start feeling anything for these guys, that will only complicate things even worse. I just have to be here for 6 weeks then I won't have to see them ever again. I'll go off to college and find a cute guy who wants to go to Med School and forget all about these guys. That's what I'll do. Just endure this for 6 weeks... I CAN DO THIS!
