I held my hand inches from Luke's door. I wanted to knock but I was hesitating because I didn't want to know what would happen if I knocked on the door. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. I waited a moment and when there was no response, I turned away and started walking towards my bedroom.

"Samantha, are you the one to knock on my door at this hour?" Luke asked as he walked into the hall. I stopped and looked over my shoulder. His hair was sticking up and I played with the napkin as I looked at my bare feet. It was an ungodly hour. I think midnight.

"I found this today," I said as I walked back and offered the napkin to him. He took it and looked at it. He stepped into his room and then stepped back out to look at me.

"Thank you. I am certain that Mrs. Winchester was looking for this... but the question is why did you wait until now to give me this?" he asked, "An better yet, why give it to me instead of Mrs. Winchester?" I played with my fingers as I looked down.

"I was busy and I could sleep until I knew that someone had it," I told him and he nodded as I moved my hair back. "I should return to my room." I turned to start walking to my room.

"Your hair looks nice down, Samantha," he told me. I glanced over my shoulder and smiled at him.

"Thank you," I whispered as I continued to my room.

The next morning, I walked into the dining room and started dusting the fire place mantle. I was humming as I dusted the mantle but I didn't hear someone enter.

"Good morning, Samantha," Luke said. I turned around and smiled at him. He was holding a stack of papers and he placed them on the dining table.

"Good morning, Luke. Can I help you with something today?" I asked as he sat at the table.

"I hope you do not mind that I work here. They are building next to the office and I have to do some paperwork for Mrs. Winchester," he said. I shook my head.

"Not at all. I will leave so you can focus," I said as I bowed my head and started walking out of the room.

"You can stay. If anything, I'm in your way if anything," he said and I played with the feather duster. I nodded as I started dusting the wall. I bit my lip and brushed my hair from my face. "You left your hair down." I looked at him over my shoulder.

"I didn't have time to pin up my hair this morning. I will go pin up my hair," I said as I tried to leave the room again. Women weren't suppose to leave their hair down. I got out of the room before he could say anything and got up to the workers' quarters.

"Miss Smith, your hair is absolutely beautiful," Max said, gaining my attention.

"I was late to work this morning. I didn't have time to pin up my hair," I told him as I opened my bedroom door. He held my door open as I tried to close my door. I walked to my vanity where my pins were. I grabbed my brush and started to brush my hair out.

"I think that your hair frames your face perfectly," Max said and I swallowed as I put my brush down.

"Samantha, can we talk really quick?" Madalynn asked as she walked into my room.

"Of course," I said, "Max, if you excuse us." Max nodded as he shut the door.

"I need you to be honest with me," she said as I twisted my hair.

"Of course," I told her as I started to pin up my hair.

"Luke and you, are you two a thing?" she asked. I froze and looked at her through the mirror.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"People saw you two talking and the everyone sees the way he looks at you," she said, "He may be an ass but we all see how much he adores you."

"Yes... no... I don't know. He asked me and I told him that we need to focus on our jobs," I told her as I finished my hair.

"Braxton and Max are wondering and I want to make sure that you won't get hurt," she said as we sat next to each other on my bed.

"Luke is so nice and handsome, but then again so is Max and Braxton," I said and she touched my hand.

"I see the way you look at Luke. I've only seen my parents look at each other like that," she said and I looked at her, "You adore him. Tell him yes." I smiled and nodded.

"Tonight. Tonight after our shifts," I told her. She smiled and nodded.

"Shall we? We need to get to the bedrooms and make the beds," she said.

That night, at midnight, I knocked on Luke's door quietly and he opened it. I gave him a note telling him that I would knock at midnight. I stood on my toes and gave him a kiss on the lips. He looked taken aback as I stepped back.

"Samantha," he muttered and I stood up straight.

"I decided that I don't care and I want to forget that you are a butler and I am a maid. At the end of the day, I am an eighteen year old girl and you a twenty year old boy," I told him and he took my hand to bring it to his lips.

"May I suggest that we don't tell everyone yet?" he asked and I looked up and down the hall to make sure that no one was watching. I saw the ghost that claimed me and I smiled.

"Just between you, me, and the spirits."
