Chapter 2

I woke up that next day with textbooks surrounding me, oh yeah, exams.

I was up all night studying and cramming in everything I could.

To be honest, I was actually kind of excited to go to school today. If it meant I would get to see Percy. I hardly knew anything about him except the fact that he was the most adorable person on the planet.

As I snapped back to reality, I shoved all the books off my lap and onto the floor, then I got up to change. After I was ready I picked up my backpack and headed into the kitchen. I grabbed a granola bar and ran out the door to catch the bus. "Bye dad love you!" I said as I shut the door. I quickly ran toward the curb where the bus usually stopped, only to find that it was pulling away when I got there.

Just my luck.

But as I was about to go back to the apartment to get my bike, I saw black hair out of the corner of my eye. I turned around with what felt like a roller coaster in my stomach and faced Percy.

"Hi," I said tucking a piece of my curly blonde hair behind my ear.

"What's up? Didn't expect to see you here."

"Oh I live in the apartment buildings around the corner."

"No way me too!"

"That's awesome!"

Inside I was freaking out, but on the outside I managed to stay calm some how.

"You should come over to my friend Rachel's house tonight," he said with his sea green eyes locked on mine.

"That would be awesome," I reply getting jitters, "who else will be there?"

"Well several other kids from school. Nico, Thalia, Luke, Leo, Jason, piper, hazel, and frank."

I used to be really close to Piper, but after we both graduated from 5th grade we just lost touch, maybe that could change tonight.

"Sounds fun! I'll defiantly be there."

"I can pick you up around 7."

"Ok, but can you drive yet?"

"Not exactly, I have my learners permit, but I can make one exception," he said smiling.

"Okay, now that that's settled, how will we get to school?" I ask looking at my watch and noticing school started in 10 minutes.

Percy whistled really loudly and screamed "taxi!"

A yellow taxi pulled up and we both hopped in.

"Do you have money?" I ask.

He nods in reply and the driver ask where we're going.

"Manhattan east high," Percy replies.

After we get out of the taxi me and Percy head into school and he walks me to my locker.

"Thanks," I say.

"For what?"

"Pulling over that cab back there."

"Oh no problem."

He gives me a little hug and heads to his locker.

My world stops for a moment and I can't seem to comprehend what just happened.

I shut my locker and walk to first period.

Percy grabs a seat next to me and we talk until the teacher enters the room.

"What exactly did you do to Bryce yesterday?" I ask.

" I told Sally Ronald that he likes her, it was a dumb dare that Jason told me to do."

"Ah I see," I say forcing back a smile.

The teacher walks in and we stop talking.

After several classes I head to lunch. I put my backpack in my locker and go to the cafeteria. After I pay for lunch, I find my usual table with all the other super nerds.

Just as I'm about to sit down I hear someone shout my name, "annabeth! Over here!" I turn around and see Percy standing on a chair and calling over to me, by now every single student in the cafeteria has their eyes locked on him.

I slowly walk over and everyone continues talking and eating as if none of it ever happened, thank god.

"Hey, wanna sit with me?" Percy asks taking my hand and dragging me to where he was sitting.

"Sure," I reply.

"Ooh Percy's got a girlfriend," chants his friend Rachel with a mouth full of salad.

Percy just rolls his eyes and lets go of my hand. I wish he didn't though.

He sits down and I sit beside him placing my tray on the table.

"Rachel, this is annabeth, annabeth, Rachel," says Percy gesturing over to Rachel then me.

"Hi, so pumped you're coming to my party tonight!" She says shaking my hand.

"Thanks for inviting me," I reply taking her hand and shaking it.

After lunch I head to my locker and then to several more classes before school finally lets out.

Now time to go home and change for my, sadly, first real party ever.
