Chapter 6

As I jumped off my chair that I had been eating breakfast in, my dad called me on my phone.

"Hi sweetie, how was your weekend. Sorry I've been away, work had just been....difficult I guess."

"Oh it was normal I guess, and are you sure everything's fine with work, you seem stressed."

"Well to tell you the truth I met someone."

"You did you meet?" I ask getting nervous yet suspenseful.

"Well, she's very nice. She has two little boys, and she actually lived in New York City, but is in California on a business trip."

"Oh, what are the odds of that?"

"Yep pretty funny. But I'm sweetie I'll be home later today."

"Okay, love you bye."

Then he hung up.

"Who the heck is that lady?" I mutter to myself as I walk to the bus stop.

But I wasn't going to let a little thing like my dad's new 'girlfriend' get in the way of this, in 2 weeks I would be dancing with Percy at prom, and some person wasn't going to ruin it.

"Wise girl! Wait up!" I hear someone shout from behind me.

"Late as usual," I say turning to Percy and smiling.

"Cut me some slack, I had to do the laundry cause my mom is sick!" He says loosing his breath.

"Oh my gods Percy I was kidding," I say laughing at him.

His cheeks turned red and that made me laugh even harder.

He smiles and we get on the bus. Rachel runs over to us followed by piper, Jason, Leo, hazel, and frank.

"Looks like the gangs all here," leo says laughing.

He won several smiles from the crowd as they all sat in the seats around us. The boys kid of made a circle and talked about whatever guys talk about, but the girls say in the two rows of seats and talked about prom.

"Jason asked me and I already bought my dress, it's long and pink with a sliver belt with jewels on the belt," says piper with dreamy eyes.

"Frank asked me, I haven't picked out a dress yet, but I'm looking at two of them," says hazel.

"Percy asked me...." I mumble quietly.

"What did you say?" Piper asked getting excited.

"Percy asked me," I said a little louder.

"Oh my gosh, yes! I have been waiting for this to happen! Percabeth yep that's your ship name," piper said smiling from ear to ear.

"Calm down piper it's just a dance," I said thinking back to last night when I scolded Percy about calling prom 'just a dance'.

The bus pulled up to school and we all stepped out. Piper and hazel's lockers where on the opposite side of school so we said our goodbyes and promised to meet up for lunch.

Me and Rachel's locker where in the same hall, so we walked together.

"No ones asked me to prom yet," Rachel said looking depressed.

"You've got two weeks you'll be-" I started to say but was cut off by the sound of Leo's voice.

"Rachel catch!" He threw a basket ball at her and she caught it.

The ball read 'prom?'.

Leo was standing down the hall with a hopeful gleam in his eyes. Rachel nodded and threw the ball back to him.

"Looks like you spoke to soon," I say nudging her shoulder.

She was just smiling.

We walked to our lockers and she got her art books out and placed them under her arm, while I got out algebra.

"Ugh you're lucky, I have math first not art."

"Yep, perks of being an artist," Rachel replied still smiling.

We walked until we had to go down separate hallways talking about how we promised to meet at the Starbucks at the mall and go look at dresses together. I finally had a day were it felt like I actually had friends, and it felt good.
