(Y/n) followed silently behind Mahiru as they walked down the streets. Kuro rested on her right shoulder in his cat form, her bag of belongings hung from her left.
She sighed and looked around at her surroundings. It was dark, the lights from the stores and lampposts being the only thing to illuminate their path. For a while, she was happy to see this place again. To be outside and see the things that had changed. But, part of her started to feel paranoid as she began to remember the last time she walked through these streets.
Suddenly anxious, (y/n) walked a bit faster to catch up to Mahiru. She was still a bit uneasy about staying with him and kuro. It was a really sudden decision and she almost felt like she was intruding even though it wasn't even her choice.
     "Uhm.. Mahiru..?" She asked awkwardly.
Mahiru looked back to her and hummed. "Yeah?"
"Are you sure it's okay for me to stay with you and kuro..? I don't want to be a problem for you or anything.." she asked, looking down slightly.
"Of course it's okay" he replied quickly. "Thinking simply, if you're kuro's subclass you and him should be together right?"
(Y/n) squinted for a moment, not sure if that was how things worked, but brushed it off as it didn't matter. "Yeah.." she agreed.

They walked for a while longer until they arrived at an apartment complex. (Y/n) followed as Mahiru led to his apartment, and within a few minutes they had made it inside. The girl watched as Mahiru made his way into the apartment and flicked on the lights. She followed him to the main room and looked around a bit. She stood awkwardly as Mahiru did his own thing for a moment, until finally he looked up at her and smiled.

"Well this is it i guess." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked around. "It's not much compared to where misono lives."
It was a small place with a living room and kitchen, along with a small sitting area and a separate hall for the bed and bathrooms. It reminded the girl of her old place in a way. "I think it's perfect" she replied. Her response seemed to make the boy happy.
He looked around for a moment before noticing that (y/n) was basically waiting to be told what to do. He realized he should probably tell her where she could stay.
"Oh, I have a guest room you can use. Here I'll show you where it is." He said as he began walking down the hall.
(Y/n) followed and took note as Mahiru pointed out what each of the doors were for. Soon, he lead her to the middle room and opened the door.
"Ah, here it is." He said.
The girl peered in, the room seemed nice but one thing caught her eye. The window.
"Thanks Mahiru~" she said nicely, "But Uhm.. is there a way you can cover the window for me..?"
He gave her a confused look but quickly understood, "oh right, I guess it'd be hard to get around if you were in your other form half the time" he said
"What?"
"you're so stupid I could die... subclass turn to ash in the sunlight.." kuro mumbled sleepily. He sighed and hopped off of (y/n)'s shoulder in favor of the mattress that was in the room.
"What?! But what about that magician guy?" Mahiru questioned.
"That guy's troublesome... everyone else can't be in the sun.." kuro yawned.
"Weird.." Mahiru mumbled. He left the room briefly and came back with a blanket he could use to cover the window with. "There, that's better.. sorry about that (y/n)" he said when he was finished.
"It's no problem" she said politely.
He gave the room one last look before nodding happily. "Okay well I guess I'll leave you to get settled in." He said. "I better get to bed anyways since I have class tomorrow." He continued as he walked out.
"Thanks, Mahiru~ goodnight" (y/n) said.
"Night" he replied before going into his room.

Kuro watched tiredly as (y/n) entered the room and shut the door quietly behind her. Her gaze traveled around the room slowly, before she wandered over to the dresser and set down her things.
He felt as his heart slowly grew heavier and heavier as he watched her. When he saw her, all he could think about was everything that had happened, everything he had done to her. He noticed that after those two years he hadn't seen her, her smile had begun to fade. She looked tired, like she was hiding everything she couldn't handle again.
He sighed and took his human form behind her. He was overwhelmed with emotions every single second. His heart overcome with joy knowing that she was alive and safe; his mind filled with guilt and self-loathing for causing her so much pain. His eyes gazed at her longingly before they flicked away, looking down to the sheets as he slowly traced his fingers across them. He bit his lip, his mind no longer fully controlling him as he took a few slow steps towards (y/n).

The girl went through her bag of belongings and sorted through them quietly. She heard a small sigh behind her and turned her head, getting a quick glimpse of kuro as she did. She turned around and noticed his sad expression.
"Kuro.?" She asked quietly, "whats wrong..?"
Kuro gave no response. He made his way closer to her until they were right in front of each other. His fingers moved slowly from the bed, to the girl's cardigan. He rubbed the fabric through his fingers slowly. After a moment he sighed and raised his gaze slightly. He looked to her as if he was examining her.
He looked into her amber red eyes, they shone so brightly. He caught a glimpse of her crystal white fangs, her smile would still look beautiful with them. It was in this moment that the vampire's emotion became too much for him to keep in, his happiness and sorrow both spilling out of him as he suddenly pulled the girl into an embrace.
(Y/n) gasped slightly at the sudden action. Kuro had barely touched her at all since they reunited and she was starting to think maybe his feelings towards her had changed, but apparently not.
"Kuro..?" She asked as she gently returned his embrace.
"..I'm sorry..." he whispered, holding her tighter. His breath hitched after he spoke, his guilt taking over him. "..I'm so... so sorry.."
The girl looked down to him, she was shocked slightly. The emotions kuro displayed pulled at her heart strings. He was hurting so badly all this time and she didn't realize. She rubbed her hand in slow, calming circles across kuro's back and hushed him slightly.
"It's okay, it's okay.." she whispered back to him. "You have nothing to be sorry about..." she hummed instinctively.
She felt kuro sigh and take a few low breaths before calming slightly. She took this chance to pull away from him, holding onto his shoulders as she looked at his expression. His gaze was off to the side but she could see the tears glistening on the edge of his lashes. His face held a sorry look, filled with a sense of guilt and sorrow.
(Y/n) sighed. She didn't want to see him like this, she wanted him to be happy. She wanted things to be like the way they were in the past. She watched as the vampire slowly lifted his gaze to her, it was sad and lonely like before. The girl not knowing what else to do leaned forward, finding a way to dissolve the solitude between them.

Their lips came together in a soft and passionate kiss. The girl leaned forward, drawing it out slightly before pulling away. Kuro looked down to her not knowing what to feel. A warm sensation still tingling on his lips.
(Y/n) looked at the confusion in his eyes as several emotions swirled around inside of him. She sighed with half a smile in a last attempt to help him straighten out his thoughts, "I love you..." she spoke softly.
Kuro blinked, it was as if he couldn't believe what he had heard. How could she say such a thing after everything that had happened? How could she still love him? He looked into her eyes seeing her sincerity, he could see past the changes in her and found that her soul was still the same. She hadn't lost trust in him, she loved him. The guilt slowly began to fade away.

Without thinking he pulled her close to him once again, bringing their lips together in another affectionate kiss. (Y/n) immediately returned it as their lips moved in sync. It was long and tender, (y/n) slowly brought her arms up and wrapped them around kuro's neck as they parted for air briefly before continuing. Kuro's kisses gradually became hungrier as his negative emotions dissolved; they were slowly being replaced with positive ones, and he didn't want this feeling to of euphoria to fade.
The two moved back slightly, until (y/n) found herself leaning on the bed. Kuro sat beside her and slowly pulled away for air. He realized where they were and sighed sitting back. He had to end things where they were, not wanting to go anywhere else with their affection.
(Y/n) looked away for a moment, slightly out of breath after what just happened. She raised her hand slowly, letting her fingertips feel the heat radiating from her lips. After a few seconds she returned her gaze to kuro, she couldn't believe that had just happened. She felt her heart fill with warmth as she leaned onto him gently, resting her head against his shoulder.
The girl smiled to herself as she felt kuro slowly bring his arm around her waist. It seemed like all the emotional problems they were having had been resolved. Finally the missing pieces between them had been found and placed. And although things had become very different than the ways they used to be, she still found the same comfort from being by kuro's side.
