Chapter 8

"K-kuro, I-"
     "What happened?" The vampire asked quickly, cutting the girl off.
     "I don't know! I- had a nightmare and I.. I woke up and.." she stuttered, unable to finish her sentence as she tried to catch her breath. Her body was trembling as she looked down to her hands slowly. A black substance slowly continued to grow and cover her skin.
     Kuro gazed down at her for a moment in concern, before pulling her wrist up to get a better look at what was happening. His eyes laced with confusion and concern. This stuff on her.. it looked familiar..
'Is this... jin-"
     Before kuro could collect his thoughts the black substance changed, rapidly forming into something new. The odd substance quickly took shape into black, ice-like crystal, cutting his hand. The servamp groaned and snapped his hand away, holding it tightly. Blood slowly seeped from his skin.
(Y/n) gasped and pulled both of her hands away, trying to hide herself from the vampire. "oh my god. Kuro, I-I'm sorry- I" she stuttered. From the moment she had woken up she had been distressed, and it only seemed to be getting worse.
The girl closed her eyes tightly in confusion and fear. The black shards of crystal grew slowly, beginning to leave a trail wrapped around her lower arm. Kuro watched and his concern turned to confusion as the girl didn't seem to notice the movement of the substance. The servamp looked down to his hand, the wound had yet to start healing. He looked back up to the girl and couldn't seem to find a scratch on her.
"(Y/n)..? Is it hurting you?" Kuro asked cautiously.
The girl shook her head after taking a moment to try and calm down. "N-no..." she mumbled. She opened her eyes slowly and looked down to herself, noticing the growth of the crystal before closing her eyes again. "Kuro... what is this..?"
He sighed and looked down to her before looking away. He had begun to figure it out. The fact that these blades of dark colored jin seemed to come from nowhere, along with the damage they inflicted on him while nothing seemed to happen to her. It started to make some sense. The sharp ice-like crystals weren't surrounding themselves around (y/n). She was the one creating them.

     (Y/n) looked up to the servamp worriedly as she didn't receive an answer. "Kuro-"
     "Agh.." kuro sighed, interrupting her.
He seemed a bit hesitant to speak. ".It's... natural, for some subclasses to develop some sort of ability..." he mumbled, looking away from her. He seemed to be carrying mixed emotions at the moment. "..Looks like you did..." he said quietly.

"Ability..?" (Y/n) mumbled looking down to herself. She settled down a bit, less tense after hearing what kuro said, but she was still shaken up. "...what kind of ability is this..? It won't stop, and it hurt you.."
Kuro looked at the girl and watched as the crystal wrapped itself around (y/n)'s arms. "It's probably some kind of defense.. I dunno.." he muttered. He could see the sense of fear was still prominent in the girl's eyes, but he didn't know how to deal with it. She was always the one that was good with comforting people.
Kuro watched as the girl sigh and close her eyes. She bit down on her lip taking a few breaths through her nose to try and calm down, but her body still trembled. Kuro hated seeing the girl with these emotions, but he felt stuck. He didn't know what to do anymore or how to act. He was still broken from what happened two years ago. But, even though his mind swarmed with conflicting emotions, his body still knew what was best.

(Y/n) heard a sigh and was surprised to feel kuro pulling her towards him. She opened her eyes quickly. "What, no- kuro dont-! I'll hurt you!" She stuttered as she tried to pull away from the vampire.
Kuro ignored her pleas and pulled her into his lap so that she could rest her back against his chest. The girl pulled her arms in close to herself, whimpering slightly in fear of something bad happening again.
"Calm down, (y/n)..." kuro mumbled as he leaned back against the headboard. He held the girl's trembling figure and slowly brushed her hair back and out of her face.
(Y/n) kept herself curled up to avoid hurting kuro, but let her head lean back, allowing him to comfort her. He stroked her hair gently, calming her a bit before she sighed and began to speak.

"Kuro..?" She asked.
The servamp hummed quietly.
(Y/n) looked down to herself to see the crystal shards. "Is this.. Going to go away..?" She asked hesitantly.
Kuro opened his eyes and looked down to the girl's arms carefully. Her ability seemed to grow with her fear, most likely because it was new but still. It seemed like the most likely way to get rid of it was just to calm her down. "Eventually.." he mumbled and rested his head on her shoulder. "... just relax.. you'll be fine.." he assured.
The girl sighed and closed her eyes, focusing on her breathing to try and stay calm. She could feel the black shards moving slowly and she sighed. "I hope so..." she mumbled.
