Chapter 13

"Hyaaa!!!" Mahiru yelled, swinging his lead through the air. It wizzed and pulled him in a different direction causing him to groan in frustration.
(Y/n) tried to hold in her laugh but failed, giggling to as she watched mahiru below her. Mahiru had taken her and kuro out to a playground to try and train a bit, but it obviously wasn't going well for him.
"Don't laugh! It's not obeying me!" Mahiru shouted, frustratedly.
"I had a feeling it wouldn't..." kuro mumbled, leaning forwards to rest his arms on (y/n)'s back as he played his video game.
      Mahiru groaned and walked closer to the two, looking to the top of the slide where they sat. "Kuro, get down here! You need to train too!" He called.
The vampire yawned, leaning further onto the girl as he shut his eyes. "Nah, that's too much work..." he sighed.
Suddenly, (y/n) felt their weight shift as kuro continued to lean on her. Her feet began to lose their grip on the slide as she tried to push herself back, "kuro- you're making us slip-" she warned, but before anything could be done her feet lost their place on the slide, and the two came rushing down. Kuro gasped as he stopped at the end of the slide, but (y/n) —being in the front— was pushed off and landed in the grass below.
(Y/n) sat up, looking back to see kuro's stunned face and laughed. "You idiot~" she said, shaking her head as she got up and dusted herself off.
The servamp scratched the back of his head, "sorry.." he mumbled, only seeming to make the girl giggle again as she picked the grass from her thin gloves.

     "Kuro, c'mon" mahiru said, walking to the servamp.
     "Nah, I'm allergic to practice, and effort.. basically you.." the servamp mumbled, turning back to his game.
     "Well that's too bad, because I value friendship, effort and victory!" Mahiru shouted. "Now come on, we need to practice!" He said, shoving his arm against kuro's fangs.
     The servamp flinched, pushing himself back before his fangs could pierce mahiru's skin. "Hey!" He shouted, nearly falling off the slide. He took his cat form to play it off, "Look, I'm a dangerous cat, so treat me carefully."
     Mahiru scoffed, "Yeah you sure look like it.." he said, but then stopped, the events from a few days ago played through his head. "But then again..." he mumbled.
     After a moment he realized something and looked up, "hey, kuro.. I want to apologize for what happened a few days ago.." he said.
"What??" Kuro asked, takes off guard for a moment. He was apologizing? But it was kuro's fault?
"You just wanted to protect me back then but I didn't listen..." the boy sighed, before looking back up, "oh, I also want to thank you for saving me so many times too.." he said, looking down to his lead, "I don't want to keep making mistakes like that, I want to get stronger.."
"that's too much stress..." kuro sighed, "isn't the peace thing more popular these days..? And being an herbivore.? Id rather be like that.."
     "You can't do that! You're a vampire, you drink blood. A full on carnivore!" Mahiru argued. Making both kuro and (y/n) sigh.

     Mahiru watched as kuro turned back to play his game. The boy turned to (y/n) with a contemplative look. "Isn't blood the your main diet??" He asked her quietly, referring to all vampires.
     The girl bit her lip, looking away slightly. "Technically.. yes.. but i rarely drink any.. and when I do it's from kuro.." she sighed, looking up to her servamp slightly.
     "But wont you starve if you don't drink any..?" Mahiru asked, looking to kuro as well. Neither of them drank blood? How did they live?
      "Mahiru.. I'm not really into talking about this..." she said.
     The boy sighed with a nod, but he still felt bad for some reason. "Well... if you need any just tell me" he said to (y/n), the girl nodded and mahiru turned to kuro to make sure he heard, "alright, kuro?"
     "Eh.." kuro huffed, he wasn't really interested.

     "Well... you still know just as little about the broom now as you did two hours ago.." (y/n) teased as she walked behind mahiru. They were heading home after mahiru's extended period of 'practice'
     "Yeah, this lead is really hard to use" he admitted, looking to his wrist.
     "It must be.." (y/n) agreed, then looked to mahiru to encourage him, "but at least your heart is in the right.. place.." she trailed off, looking away from him slightly.
     "What's wrong?" Mahiru asked.
      The girl closed her eyes for a moment to focus before opening them again, a concerned look grew over her face. "Someone's coming" she said, turning around. She could hear hurried footsteps from afar.
     Mahiru turned as well, and a dark figure rushed around the corner towards them. "You're Right! Someone is following us" he said as he turned and began to run from the figure. (Y/n) followed behind quickly.
      Soon the three wound up in another park, and mahiru turned around. This is where they would have to fight. The vampire came running at them, but jumped in the air in an attempt to avoid them. Mahiru gasped in confusion, before a gunshot rang through the air.
     (Y/n) watched the unknown vampire fall to the ground after being shot. She turned to see who had done it, and was surprised to find Doubt Doubt and his eve.
