Chapter 31 - Alex Pierre

Dragon POV

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen." The host greeted.

Joanna and I were at an event for business people. I don't really understand it because I'm an employee myself.

I looked over at Joanna whose attention was on the host. "You look beautiful tonight."

She looked back at me and smiled. "Thank you." She leaned in and kissed me. "You look dashing yourself."

"Let us all enjoy dinner before we start the main event." The host announced.

Champagne was being served by waiters roaming around. To my surprise, Joanna declined. She's been legal to drink since she was eighteen so why stop now?

"You're not drinking?" I asked before taking a sip of my glass of champagne.

She shook her head. A smile graced her lips. "Who'll drive when you get drunk?"

I playfully glared at her. "I can control myself."

She laughed. "Well, so can I."

We started eating.

"Hi." A woman from our table greeted.

I looked at Joanna who greeted back. "Hi!"

"I'm Alex Pierre." She held out her hand.

"Joanna Pembleton." Joanna shook her hand.

Alex gestured her husband. "This is my husband, Gerard Pierre."

I shook their hands. "Cole Pembleton."

"So, were you nominated?" Gerard asked me in a French accent.

"Uh, no." I gestured Joanna. "She's the one who got us here. She's the one who got nominated."

"Oh! My wife was nominated as well." Gerard mused.

Alex looked excited. "My product got nominated."

I looked at Joanna. "Sweetheart, what were you nominated for?"

"I'm nominated for Most Influential CEOs." Joanna stated.

Alex looked at Joanna with surprise. "Wow."

"Wait, Joanna Stannard?" Gerard asked.

Joanna nodded. "I got married about two months ago."

Alex looked impressed. "Not a lot of people were there I assume?"

Joanna shook her head in amusement. "Nah. I just invited my closest friends and family. Most of my friends are my husband's friends too."

"Oh, that's nice." Alex looked like she was contemplating. "Did you receive the letter?"

I frowned. "What letter?"

"Wait, that was you?" Joanna asked.

Alex smiled. "Yeah."

Joanna's face flushed. "I uh... I never actually read it yet." She looked away. "Sorry."

Alex chuckled. "It's okay. I figured that you'd be busy to read it so uh..."

Joanna raised a brow. "Why'd you send me a letter anyway?"

"Alright!" The host stood up on the stage. "It's time for the main event!"

"I'll tell you later." Alex nodded.

Joanna smiled. "Alright."

Award after award were given.

Turns out, Alex was nominated twice.

"Best Product goes to..."

Alex held Joanna's hand, excited.
