Chapter 17

If you were to ask any member of Voltron this day-

" Did you cry in the funeral of
Lance McClain ? "

They would lie and say no, but they cried harder than ever before. Shiro couldn't stand even looking at his grave or even looking at Kevin. Pidge had been bawling on her knees for the past hour or so. Even Kevin, the man who started this all had hot tears of regret rolling down his cheeks and chin.

Keith and Hunk took this the worst.
Hunk would be the one who went to Cuba and explained this to his family. He felt like he should do it instead of Keith. Hunk watched as his family crumbled beneath his very own two feet. Lances mother begged to have the body, just to see him one last time. However, Hunk didn't have it in his heart to tell him he's only ashes at this point.. He just couldn't.. So he did the thing he felt was right. He gave her Lances phone that he left in the castle. His eyes pained him to let the tears fall but it was no use. He had to give her the phone. She deserved to keep his memory alive more than he did.

After all..

He caused this.

Keith..
Keith oh Keith..

He couldn't move the entire time of the funeral. He just stared at the casket that had ashes in them. This funeral was a closed casket of course and for some reason, it caused him even more pain and suffering. He couldn't stand it.

Before the funeral ended he walked away slowly and sat himself down next to the river they chose to bury Lance next to. He whispered to himself many awful things. He reminded himself of how awful and rude he was. How he should just jump in this rapid lake instead of dating Kevin.

" Wait a second..
Kevin started this..
Kevin replaced Lance as both a paladin and my lover...
Y-yea !!
That's what happened.. !
It wasn't us who drove him to a breaking point !!
No no !!
It was all Kevin !!
It wasn- "

" Keith ? Babe ? What are you doing over here by yourself ? You could get hurt come here.. "

Before Kevin could even place a finger over Keith, he spun around and smacked his hand away.

" IT WAS YOU !! YOU DID THIS TO HIM !!! HE WAS RIGHT THERE HE WAS RIGHT THERE BUT YOU STILL DID THIS !! YOU STILL !!! IT'S YOU IT'S YOU IT'S YOU !!! I'M LEAVING YOU !!! YOU DON'T DESERVE LANCE !!! .......
I don't deserve Lance.... "

Kevin stared in shock of what was once his lover. The man he once held at night after a long day was now a bawling mess. He knew he didn't mean it but it still hurt when he said it. He knew he shouldn't of let it get to him but it just hurt to much.

He looked at him one last time and turned away slowly beginning to walk back to the funeral. His face twisted in maybe confusing emotions. He felt angry, upset and betrayed all at the same time.

He didn't know what to do with all those emotions. They were just..

There..

Was this the way Lance felt when Keith replaced him.. ?
Was this the way he felt when his world ended before him.. ?
I'm so sorry Lance..
I didn't know how much this would hurt..

As Kevin walked back to the funeral he truly broke down. He stared at the grave and held his hand out to it. His face scrunched up from all the anger he had given to him in the past year of his life.

" I'm so sorry I did this to you..
You were..
You were such a strong man..
You were such a gentleman..
You were so brave to deal with everything I've ever given you..
I'm so sorry.. "

The team looked upon each other in sadness and sighed. They'd lost their most valuable player.

Even then

They didn't know..
