Shelby's POV
The leaves floated to the ground in the early and chilly October air. A thing of peace tea was set beside me, along with my many papers, as I stared out the window. I awaited for Luke, some kid I have to do a poetry project with.
I don't know much about Luke, he just moved in this year. He seemed like your typical prep. But I don't like to judge people by what they seem so I need to wait and see. Then and only then will I open up and "judge" Luke, that lil Aussie.
"Shelby right?" I looked up from my current book I was reading to see Luke. His hair was in its normal blonde quiff. He wore dark skinny jeans and a Nirvana t-shirt with his converse.
"Would you quite looking at me?" Luke asked clearly annoyed with me.
"Nope Im not done checking you out." I said instead of my usual, 'What! I wasn't looking at you!'
"Fine. But lemme sit down first." Luke said sitting down. He then spread his legs apart, giving me a clear view of his erm...thingy...
"You like?" Luke asked.
"Eh. You face looks better."
"Oh hon just wait till you see it when its all out."
"Well maybe I don't wanna see it when its all out!" I snapped.
Dammit, did I take my meds this morning? I hoped I did.
"Jeez, you don't have to be so rude about my di-" Luke was really getting on my nerves.
"Luke?" I asked in a really innocent voice.
"Yes Shelby?"
"Would you just work on the project?" I asked sounding more rude than I meant.
"God help me." I heard Luke mutter under his breath.
"Oh that guy doesn't give a damn." I said under my breath.
Luckily Luke didn't hear a thing.
"Alright so I think we should work on looking at other poems and doing the whole analyzing thing with each type of poem. Ill do limerick, concrete, and acrostic. You can do the other three types. We can divide and concur. Afterwards I think we should go over each others work, like switchero or something on the poems. Then on the third week we should start writing poems. We should get this done by....November 3rd, thats a wednesday I believe. " I rambled on about the project.
"Wait, the projects not due till the 14th of November."
"So? Better to get it done and over with right?" I ask
"Nah. I like to do it where you do some in the being and middle but then you rush to get it done the night before its due."
"Luke, I have plans for collage, Im not sure about you, but I would like to graduate with good grades. I for one have always been good in school and I don't need to
fail English class okay?" Okay yeah, I forgot to take my pills.
"Screw you." Luke laughed. "Screw you. Like for real go screw your self right now because your being such a conceded brat."
"Mature."
"I always am."
"Ha ha very funny."
"You know what I don't even care about this poetry project!" Luke slammed his book down. The whole Library seemed to turn towards us. I wanted to just curl up into a ball. I hated attention, of any kind!
"Fine Ill do it all myself!" I yelled.
Just then my little nine year old brother ran in.
"Shelby your in trouble!" Max teased me.
I smiled at him and asked, "What did I do this time?"
"You forgot to take those pills that make you happy. Please your gonna end up in the hospitable again."
I sighed, "hospital and alright, tell her Ill be there in a moment."
I turned back to Luke after Max had ran off, Luke's eyes were wide and he looked almost worried.
"Anti-depressant pills?" He questioned.
"Sorta. Im bipolar and I forgot to take them so I was off today." I explained.
"Is that why you were like this today?"
"Hu? Oh yeah, thats why. And Im sorry. I still have trouble."
"Okay...."
"Please don't tell anyone about this though. Its not for others ears."
"Okay, I wont tell."
I didn't like trusting Luke with that but I had to.
