Chapter thirteen// Brake

Shelby's POV

He sits on the ground playing tug o war with Promise. A smile plays on his lips, tormenting me. His kindness is not for me. 

He's too good for me. He can't possibly love someone as broken as me. I don't deserve him. I will only brake him in the end like I have broken my self. 

"Would you please go Luke." I tell him heading up the stairs. Usually we hug to say goodbye. So he extends his arms out but I can't reach out.

"Luke I might be sick I don't wanna get you sick too." I explain hoping he believes my lie. 

"Okay. What time should I come over tomorrow?" He asks putting his coat on. 

"Don't bother." I tell him. 

"Okay? So what should I come by? Or you can come over or we can meet up somewhere." 

"Luke, stop." 

"What? I thought we were...."

"Friends? Not anymore." I snap. 

"Why? Is it because of why they said? I swear thats not it! I care about you so much. I don't want to hurt you, I just...I love you!" 

His voice rises as he tells me this when he realizes what he said he whispers it again, "I love you." 

"No you don't." I tell him firmly praying the tears won't come right now. 

"I do Shel. I really do..." See Im braking him... 

"Please just go Luke! I can't do this anymore okay?" I yell, shoving him towards the door.  

"What can't you do anymore?" Luke asks stunned by my behavior. 

"This." I say gesturing with my hands. "This meaning us. I can't live with myself knowing Im hurting you by practically killing myself okay? I can't do it okay I just can't." The tears finally fall. 

"Don't do this Shelby. Don't block me out. Im trying to help you, please." His eyes look red and watery. 

"Just please go Luke." I tell him. 

"Ill call you latter when Im better." 

I tell him.

"Promise?" Luke questions. 

"Promise." 

"Promise you won't come back to me unless I tell you to?" I ask. 

"I can't promise that." He tells me.

"Whys that?" I ask. 

"Because if something happened I wouldn't be able to just watch it happen." 

"Then why are you leaving me?" 

"You want to prove that your strong enough to handle this on your own. But you have nothing to prove. Im letting you do this though so you can believe in yourself too. Whenever you need me or whatever, you know where to find me okay?" Luke tells me. 

"Okay." I say shutting the door. I slide down the door and cry. 

"I love you too." 

Luke's POV 

Shes the worlds worst liar. 

I know the truth. She thinks she killing me in some odd way by being near me. Just because she has mood changes rapidly and depression she thinks she can't be around anyone. So for now, Ill let her figure things out with her self. But sooner or latter Im gonna come back for her. 

I walk to my truck, turning on the radio. Forever and Always by parachute just so happens to come on. I love this song and it always makes me think of Shelby. I will always want her forever. She is just part of me now. I switch the station because I just can't bare to hear something that makes me think of her.
