Silent Treatment

Five days. FIVE days. FIVE DAYS of absolute torture. My body felt like it had ran a marathon and labored a baby in the middle of it then kept going while breast feeding an infant. That is how the fuck I felt during heat. I locked my door after the first incident when Hunter was there. Shortly after he kissed me, it's like I went insane. Everything in my body begged for Hunter to take me. To say I was completely embarrassed was an understatement. I quickly pushed Hunter out of my room and never opened it until today.

Hunter was incredibly sweet during the time. I had no other focus except the pain that consumed my body and twisted it in every way. It was worse than shifting for the first time. My screams could be heard from the whole house and Hunter had to kick every horny wolf out of the house. The only times someone came in was one of the nurses who brought me food then left quickly. I couldn't risk Hunter coming in although I felt the need for him to. He couldn't fight it as well since my body told me to go to him and his told him to mark me. It was a temptation that I was almost ready to risk. However, whenever the pain subsided, he'd come at my door and talk to me.

The pain always caused me to be tired so I never had the time to badger him with questions about my past. I asked him to make me forget about my pain and he instead strikes conversation about himself. When he was younger he had played football. His dad was strict but his mom was a free spirit. He overtook the Alpha title at age 19 and ever since then, he had no other time for activities. His favorite color is indigo and he wants three kids.

In the last week, I grew closer to Hunter more than I intended to. He made my heart flutter at his words and when he said my name in a soothing way, it's like everything disappears and I'm left with this overwhelming amount of love. He made me feel... special.

'Cuz he's our mate idiot.' My wolf told me. She's so annoying! After she'd been whining over and over again about Hunter. Like get a grip woman! I'm a part of you too! I have feelings.

Today was the last day of heat and it hurt worse than all the last times. I laid in bed most of the day as I screamed in agony. I knew that Hunter had to mark me soon or else the second wave would hit harder and I wasn't ready for that. I could barely breathe through this one and it was only because Hunter's presence was the only thing keeping me calm. The sun had already set and the pain slowly left my body.

I was exhausted by what the day had brought me and I lay limp in my bed. Hunter finally came in about two minutes ago, only to engulf me in a constricting hug. All the urges that the heat had brought upon us was gone.

"Goodnight." Hunter said as he placed a small kiss on my forehead.

As he got up to go, I held his wrists in an instant. "Please don't go." I pleaded. I've grown comfortable around his presence and the more I did, the more I yearned to be with him every second of the day.

"I have to go. I'm sorry." He apologizes as he soothingly rubs my hand with his thumb.

"Why are you even going? It's night time and you're supposed to do these things in the day." I complain.

Ever since Hunter revealed the truth about me to Dylan and Anna, they've been avoiding me since the heat started. They never avoided me before and now it just hurt even more. The two people who I was closest to kept a secret that meant a lot to me. How could they do this? My mind wraps back around to Hunter, not being ready to deal with the feelings that came with the thoughts of Anna and Dylan.

Hunter has been going to these meetings the past week but it was different today. He was going at night when he usually goes in the day. I also had a gut feeling that Anna and Dylan were joining as well. A pang hits my heart but I quickly ignore it.

"It's a special..... meeting?" He finished his sentence off as a question. He was so bad at lying. Hunter tried to lie to me and say he like the Vampire Diaries but after asking him some questions, I knew he was lying straight through his teeth. Poor boy tried to keep the act up by telling me that Elena dies for good in the third episode, not knowing she was the main character.

"Why are you guys doing this? Is it because of what you told Dylan and Anna?" I sat up to look at him. He was standing by the bed and my hand still wrapped around his wrist. I've grown to like him. Under all that Alpha look, he was actually a pretty sweet guy. Totally cliche but it was true.

"No matter how many times you ask, I can't tell you." His hands come up to cup my face.

I raise an eyebrow at him while I let go of his wrist. "Excuse me? You can't? Or you won't?" By now, I was glaring. I was so pissed off! First, the two most important people in my life, avoid me, then my soul mate has some big secret that everyone else knows but me! I'm being kept in the dark over here and I don't like it one bit! I ask him the same question every time.

"Both." His Alpha voice said sternly. I've asked him about a million times on what happened the day my parents car crashed and why he was there. The dread of being locked up in here for the past week due to my heat was slowly taking it's toll on me.

Everything was wrong. My best friend avoided me along with my brother and Hunter, my mate, was keeping a secret that could unlock every question I've ever had about my parents... about myself. The situation made me uncomfortable and all I wanted to do was leave.

"Fine. Go." I said coldly. I crossed my arms over my chest, and laid back down, making him face my back. I couldn't keep this up anymore. I was tired, I was sick, and I was missing the comfort of safety. Although I felt safe in Hunter's presence, it felt like I was closed off in a box.

"Sara" He started to say but I cut him off.

"Could you please turn off the light and close the door when you leave? Thanks." I spat out. I was in no mood to talk to him. To anyone anymore! Everyone kept secrets from me and I was tired of it. If they were avoiding me, I'll avoid them.

"Sara, don't do thi-" I cut him off again.

"Goodnight Hunter." I snapped at him with anger in my voice.

After a couple of minutes, he finally got the hint and left to go to the meeting. I felt like crying, why? I. Don't. Know. I just felt hurt, betrayed by everyone. What were they hiding from me? Was it that secretive? I want to know! Why can't I know?

I pondered on everything, why my life sucked, why did I end up with a secretive mate, why the closest people to me avoided me. I didn't know anything anymore and I grew weary at the thought of the unknown. It made my insides churn and my skin fill with goosebumps.

What were they hiding is the million dollar question.

Sleep finally found me and I was back into the darkness.
