Anna's POV

I groan in pain while I pick my body up from the ground into a sitting position. My hands instantly on my stomach, rubbing it in soothing circles. No...

I look up to see the fight but saw Trey's people scurrying back. Hunter's wolf stands out with the black and white shades, swiftly tearing heads off in every direction. It doesn't even look like there was one scratch on him. His men did a good job to keep him from getting harmed but also gave him room to help watch their backs. Although he was dead center in everything, no one was able to get a snip off him.

My eyes follow the ground as I see dead bodies everywhere. I catch Sara's unconscious body laying in front of me and I didn't realize the tears falling until I felt a speck of water hit my hand. My chest heaves up and down, my breath stuck in my throat. None of this was supposed to happen. I follow the bodies littering around me when I let out the loudest scream I've ever let out.

"Dylan!" My heart drops down to my stomach. I ignore the throbbing ache that lay in my stomach and weakly drag myself over to Dylan. Tears flow down my cheeks, catching some dirt in the process. I didn't care. Dylan wasn't breathing the way Sara was. I couldn't bear to lose him.

"Anna!" I hear Hunter's voice from a distance but I ignore it. My primary focus was on Dylan. Before I could touch him, I was being pulled away. I could barely thrash in Hunter's hold due to my back being unbearable sore. He picks me up slowly and sits me over by the entrance to the pack house.

In such little time, Dylan and I have made this place our home... I couldn't lose him too.

"Anna, I need to get you to my doctor," Hunter squat and gazes up at me. He didn't want to look at Sara, I could feel it. I couldn't either. My body wracks with sobs but no words come out of my mouth.

"Anna," Hunter's voice was strained. I know he was putting up a front to be strong for everyone else but I could see right through. He puts a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "The best thing we can do right now is make sure you and I are okay for them. You're no good in this... state." Hunter knew about my pregnancy. I was going to tell Sara this morning before..

I was so fucking excited. Everything was slowly coming together only to fall back apart. Hunter could barely form the words to speak to me. It was okay though because I could care less about anything except for Dylan right now. I didn't even know if the... baby survived. I just know the bleeding stopped and Dylan hasn't woken up.

Hunter helps me back up after a few moments of silence. The doctor came with a few vans to haul the other members. The ride to the pack hospital was short and uncomfortable. My mind could only think about Dylan but my body aches with pain. It's like I was numb...

-

Nurses flood the room I sat in and quickly clean me up. Towels were stained with my blood and I stop myself from thinking any further. I shut everything out. A blank expression lay on my face as I stare at myself in the mirror. I had a few bruises and my back hurt if I bend over or backwards. The doctor hasn't seen me yet but I assume he was fixing up Sara and Dylan first.

I shut my eyes tightly and clench my fists. Don't think about it.. Don't think about it.

When I open my eyes again, the nurses were done cleaning me up. They gather they things while one of them helps me on the chair bed. She smiles softly and I realized she was one of the nurses who found out I was pregnant...

I muster up the best thank you I could before she and the other nurses left the room. Laying on my back was probably not the best idea but it felt better nonetheless. My mind went blank as I lifelessly stare at the ceiling. I wanted to know about Dylan but Hunter advised that it probably wasn't a good idea to worry too much about him right now.

"Anna," my head snaps over to the door to see a woman at the door. I've never seen her before. "I'm Dr. Joyce, Dr. Nick's wife. I was out of town, helping a few other packs when I received the call," Joyce's solemn face comes to view as she comes closer. She gives me reassuring smile.

I wish I could smile back but I didn't feel like it. There was no reason to smile. I think she understood because she places a hand on my shoulder and gives me a reassuring squeeze. "I'm going to give you a quick ultrasound and then I'm going to check your back," Joyce instructs me before walking away over to the computer machine.

The coolness of the liquid startles me but I avoid sucking in a breath. I keep my hands close to me in hopes that it stops trembling. Joyce's words ring in my ear but slowly fades out as everything disappears from my vision.

I suck my bottom lip in between my teeth as I feel the sobs coming slowly.

It reminds me of a wave. It would stray away from shore, leaving me breathless and hollow. I could first feel it form in my stomach like a tangled knot. No matter how hard I try to fight it, it would only drag me down harder. From afar you wouldn't think it was anything until it came closer and closer... Then it knocks you down.

Silent tears fall from my eyes and down to the side of my head. I don't hide my face nor do I clutch my stomach like I usually do. This time, I just let it all out.

"I'm so sorry for your loss Anna.." Joyce says her condolences before leaving me to myself.
