Pulling up to the intimidating building, I swept my eyes across the car park searching for an empty place.
Most people would think spy's would have their base in a secret hidden place, pshh, yeah right. The best things are hidden right in front of us. I slid out of the seat and got out, locking the door behind me.
Approaching the building instinctively, I searched for anyone that might see me, I have been taught to be careful and aware wherever I go.
I got up to the door and pressed the buzzer, I heard the a faint clicking sound, signalling I had to show I was here.
''Agent Maria Kingshot'' I stated.
''Ahh miss Kingshot, great to hear from you." The person on the other side of the receiver replied as a small electric contraption filtered out of the wall for me to place my index finger onto. I have done this to many times, I don't even need to think about it.
''Thanks Maria, come on through, have a great day'' The man chirped. At least he was having a good day.
Suddenly door opened and I stepped into the lobby. The building I work in is disguised as a normal boring office. Any new agent had to go through all of the same things.
A small part of the wall quietly turned as I sauntered up to the main desk. I walked towards the embankment and stepped in front of it, waiting for it to turn back round again. As if on cue it gradually span me around so I was facing the other side of the wall.
I always felt really cool when that happened. I mean who else can say they have experienced going through a secret revolving door?
''Agent Kingshot, Great to see you, the boss wants you to go to his office immediately.'' stated the security office as he stood guarding the wall, he had an impassive look with his hands securely folded in front of his chest.
''Thanks.'' I smiled a fake smile and strode away, and off I went down the mechanical hallway, the walls were plain white and it constantly smelled of antiseptic. Never failing to remind me of a hospital. All along the long hallway were steel doors concealing the hard working agents. Straight ahead of me was the boss' door, obviously you couldn't miss it. In big intimidating letters read 'Julian Rivers'.
I advanced to the door and knocked twice.
''Come in'' an muffled voice from the other side announced.
I turned the cold brass handle and stepped inside.
''Hello Maria, glad you could make it this morning''
Mr rivers was a tall man with broad shoulders, although he was starting to gain weight, it proudly stuck out, just enough room for him to button up his black stylish blazer. He was a good looking man for his age, with warm brown eyes that never showed emotion- number one agent rule: never show any emotion, I guess he's a master at it. Shaggy blonde hair fell down his face, stopping at his forehead, it needed a cut... hmm, I have an amazing hairdresser, maybe I should recommend her? A voice snapped me out of the images of Julian having a bald head.
''Please sit dear''
I did what I was told immediately and sat on a cushioned business like chair with spiny wheels, facing Julian across a large glass desk. these things are awesome I contemplated as I span around getting a little bit dizzy.
''Maria, how are you?''
''I'm great thanks Julian, what do you need me for? Do I get to kill a bad guy again? that would be sweeet''
He chuckled and answered ''No, but I have the job that will be perfect for you''
''Shoot'' I grinned with an enthusiastic tone of voice.
'''Well, you are the youngest of this service, so I decided......" He paused for dramatic effect. "You're going back to school!'' He clapped his hands enthusiastically, obviously thinking I would be thrilled.
A long tension filled silence filled the air as I took in what he said.
''WHAT'' I choked out
''You see, some of my sources say that a young man attending this school may be causing trouble. We have reason to believe that he is involved with drugs and possibly in a gang. It has the potential to corrupt the young children in school." Julian stated, getting straight to the point.
''Now what I need you to do is attend for as long as you can and find out who is responsible, before we put the students and community in any more danger.''
''What's in it for me?'' I asked, narrowing my eyes and then stroking my chin to amuse myself.
''What do you want?'' He huffed.
''Seeing as you asked so nicely'' I chuckled. ''I want as many clothes I can carry''
''Girls these days ''he muttered. What did he expect? I'm a girl, I have needs and they happen to be finding the perfect apparel.
''Fine.'' he stretched out his hand gesturing for me to shake.
''Great, you start tomorrow' He grinned. Knowing I didn't realise I start straight away.
''Woopee'' I muttered with no enthusiasm. I stood up and stretched my legs before heading to the door.
''Bye Maria, have a great day tomorrow.''
I didn't reply, I grabbed the door handle and walked out, hearing his laughter from behind me. This is going to be a blast I thought as I headed out.
