Chapter 1 - Finding the secret of the cliffs

*************

Olena's POV

I was sitting on my perch, the sun shining on my beautiful scales. I was glad that I was lucky enough to have a perfect name. It meant bright scales, and my white scales were the brightest of all dragon kind.

I was in the mood for a snack, I spread my wings wide and took off. I was flying over the woods when I spotted a deer in a wide clearing. I was on a leasure fly and didnt use my full hunting skills on the deer. I just snatched up the racing deer in my claws and broke its neck. I flew back to the clearing and landed to eat my deer.

As I landed I was careless and broke a tree.

Civia's POV

I never was very comfortable around the village, I loved to be alone. I was always alone because I had lost my father a year ago. He got lost in the forest and never made it back.

I had just had my sixteenth birthday and this was my first time I was able to get away. My first idea was to go swimming in the river. As I was nearing the river I heard a loud crash.

I turned away from the path and carefully started to walk into the tall, dark forest. After a few minutes I heard something take flight. It sounded huge but I could not think of anything that could possibly be that big.

Olena's POV

After I realized that something in the forest heard me, I grabbed the rest of my snack and took off for my home on the cliffs. I new it was not far away for me, but anything that walked would take a long time to get there, especially if they only had two legs. And they'd also have a very hard time getting up the cliffs, I thought smuggly.

Even with my thoughts, I was very afraid that something had seen me, I was supposed to live in secret. Most of the dragons were dead because humans had found a way to kill them. I did not want to be discovered because I loved my life too much to lose it now.

Civia's POV

I looked up at the sky to see if I could catch a glimpse of the flying creature. I could not tell what I saw, except is was amazingly white. I saw it heading for the cliffs. The cliffs were about fifty miles from the village, but the creature passed them and flew out site in less than a minute. The cliffs were huge and they looked dark brown, almost black.

I was so surprised by what I had seen I could not move. After what seemed like hours of watching the scene replay in my head, I turned around and headed back into town. Me and my mother lived at the edge of the village. We both liked to be alone so we lived as far away from the village as we could without being in the forest. Everyone was scared of the forest. The only time I went in was to go hunting. We didn't have much money and was much easier if I just went hunting.

I had just reached marrying age. Most girls got married at sixteen. Every girl the village had had an uncommon beauty, but mine was uncommon even for them. I had beautiful silky blonde hair, blue eyes the color of the sea, though I hunted my hands were always smooth. Most people would complement me on my beauty.

I have gotten tired of all the attention. I guess you could call me weird. I didn't do almost anything a girl would, I liked to do what men did, and I would do everything I could to stay independent. Their were a lot of suitors, but I didn't want to marry anyone. I wanted to be free and do as I pleased, not have someone boss me around and expect me to do housely chores. Mostly  though, I wanted to keep hunting and I would not give it up for anything, even a husband.
