Chapter 28 – The Kingdom

“Olena–”

“Now is not the time, little one. Everything will be explained when the time comes.”

I was sick of being told to wait, but I guess she is right. Now isn’t the time.

We are surrounded by horrible creatures that want nothing more than us to be dead.

“How are we going to defeat these creatures?”

“Climb on.”

Her right wing spread out to reach the ground, creating a sort of ramp for me to use.

I ran up her wing, and though it is thin her wing felt as hard as steel under my feet.

I quickly sat by her neck where the spikes ended. I didn’t need anything to hold onto this time. There was no need for the comfort the large spikes would give me.

I was ready to truly become a Dragon Rider.

Quickly scanning the clearing I searched for Shamir.

I found him on the dragon to my left, the one facing west.

The dragon was a really dark black, even darker than the black of night, but even though it was so dark, the dragon shone with a strange light.

I looked to my right to see a brilliant red dragon with another rider on its back.

The rider had long bright red hair and wore green clothes.

She was too far away for me to see any close detain of her.

Quickly looking behind me I saw a deep green dragon. It was such a strange green. It blended into every bush and leaf around.

The rider on its back had the same type of green hair and wore the same color of green clothes so he would blend in with the forest along with the dragon.

“Are these people fully bonded with their dragon?”

“Is that why their hair are those… um… nice colors?”

She chuckled and I could feel it rumble through her entire body.

“Yes, their hair changed after the bonding, but you will get a choice to share the same color as your dragon. When you get a closer view you will also notice that their eyes are the same color as the dragon’s scales.”

“So if we fully bond my hair will turn white?”

She chuckled, again.

“You will have a choice whether you will take on the features of your dragon, everyone does.”

Good, I don’t know if I want my hair to be white, let alone my eyes. That would be kind of creepy.

“How are we going to destroy these creatures? They are all around us, though not as close as before, but still there.”

“Have you forgotten who you are with?”

The confidence in her voice made me feel a lot better.

Simultaneously all four dragons spread their wings out to the side.

The tips of each of their wings touched the tips of the wings of both dragons on either side of them.

“What…?”

Before I could even ask my question light started to shine from the tips of the dragon’s wings.
