stars

i snuck out late at night,
when all the stars were out and dancing in the sky,
twinkling.
i pushed my body through the window,
and squirmed through the window frame.
i threw myself out into the bushes below,
thorns nipping at my legs.
and i walked to school.

in the pitch black,
i walked.
there were no eyes staring,
but just stars above twinkling down at me.
i tread through the darkness,
not scared.

i got to the school,
and walked across the black top.
my converse scratching against the ground
echoing in the silence,
but the stars twinkled,
and made it not so silent.

i walked to the back of the school,
where jungkook and i meet up.
and i sat,
where we would hold hands
and whisper to each other.

i stared at the stars,
curious if jungkook was looking, too.
if jungkook was watching the same stars twinkle,
if jungkook was calm in the pitch black, too.

we're both different,
but both the same.
we're both lost, so alone.
but together, we found our way,
and it's suddenly a lot less lonely
being different.

i was dozing off,
head between my knees.
i heard crunches of leaves,
crunching getting closer and closer.
but i was sleepy,
and didn't look for the crunches.

"yoongi?" i heard,
a soft, quiet voice.
a tired voice, but an awake voice.

i tilted my head up,
looking for where the voice came from.
and behind me, stood jungkook.
he looked at me,
eyes reflecting the spilt stars.

he sat down besides me,
grabbing my hand, and looking upwards.
he whispered,
"you're here to see the stars, too?"
