The air around him froze particles in the air slowly Dante able to see each one as it filtered through. Laurence's eyes widened as he turned surprise flashing in his eyes seeing Dante. Gene's gaze snapped to him as he stared at him, his red eyes filling with satisfaction and anger. He repeated it this time his words steadier and more confident.
"I said. Fight me coward" Dante hissed hatefully loath filling him making him feel rooted to the ground as he stared at Gene challenging his gaze.
Gene's face twisted into a angerful sneer of hate. He slowly stepped backed away from Laurence, each step careful and slow as if planned. He stared a smile starting to twitch on his lips as his eyes turned murderous. Dante stood his ground giving him a steady glare of confidence. His best friend was somewhere in there, he wasn't backing down.
"Well look who finally, had some courage to face me" Gene chuckled his voice going deeper than he knew Vylad's could go making him hold back a shiver.
"I've always had the courage" Dante shook his head with a rough growl to his voice. Dante smirked the confidence rising "I stood up to you that day in the village and I don't regret it and I won't regret this either."
"You'd do well to shut your mouth" Gene growled his voice finally shifting into something Dante recognized making him narrow his eyes back. Dante took a step forward confidently glaring at him
"You haven't changed a bit" Dante shook his head "Your still a murderer, still a selfish bastard"
"Dante!" Laurence broke through his haze facing him with a defensive look "You need to get out of here" He snapped protectively moving in front of him almost within a second poised to fight Gene but Dante put a hand on his shoulder shaking his head.
"I would listen to him" Gene growled voice still someone else's as his eyes almost seemed to burn brighter at Dante, who still shook his head defiantly
"I'm not leaving my friends" He said determinedly "If you want me then you have me, Let the rest go" Laurence shifted in front of him giving him a stunned look over his shoulder
Gene started to laugh, a twisted grin appearing on his face "Let the rest go?" He snickered giving him a look "Let's face it little brother . . . Your not willing to sacrifice yourself for your pathetic friends"
"Yes I am!" Dante immediately snapped voice heated making both Laurence and Gene jump slightly "I am willing to do that! I was all those years ago and I am now! Especially if it means my best friend getting his life back"
Something flickered in Gene's eyes but it dissapeared as he sent a fiery glare at Dante who glared back. Laurence stayed quiet looking over at Dante the firm look in his eyes fading as he sighed facing him with a determined look
"He's right. I'm not leaving my friends either"
"Two little heroes eh?" He snickered shaking his head before lifting his sword making Laurence tense "Alright . . . . more fun for me"
He came at Laurence who swung up his sword blocking him last second that rang loudly and forced him back a step. Dane's eyes scanned around the clearing searching for something to use to help. Something tugged at the back of his mind and he looked over at the Irene statue eyes widening.
