I Want The Bath Just Not The Ice

Percy had flung himself into my arms with all little might. If he were older than it might have even hurt me. My shirt was even wet when I put him to bed last night. I know he likes it here but, should this change take more than three days? Not that I am complaining.

I contemplated what the meaning of Percy's tears meant as I ate breakfast with my team. I looked at the clock and started to worry weren't most kids up by now.

"Hey Capsicle where's the kid?". Yep, if Tony has noticed then it must be common knowledge.

At that moment a walking train wreck came into the room. Percy's messy black hair was (somehow) messier. His boisterous green eyes were dull with bags. He was sweating and shivering at the same time, I didn't even know that that could happen! He must be sick.

Bruce walked slowly to Percy "You're sick"

Percy gave a painful snort "You noticed". I ignored the sarcasm in favor of running over and picking him up.  I put him in my bed and Bruce immediately stuck a thermometer under his tongue. After it beeped twice, Bruce showed me it.

103.

Crap! First day as a legal parent and my kid's broken.

I tried to pay attention to Dr. Banner as he talked but mostly I didn't care. I pulled the sheet over me so that I wasn't so cold but not to hot either. What I did catch was "If his temperature gets a degree higher than we have to put into a ice bath. I don't want to but it is the only thing that will bring his temperature down." The bath sound great! Ice not so much.

"Will he be okay until then?" Steve asked.

"As good as he can with that high of a fever". I don't remember the conversation after that because I fell asleep.

When I awoke to Steve watching me and Natasha was run he hand through my hair. "Eat this" she said gently handing warm oatmeal cereal "It's Kasha. It should help your immune system." It tried to eat it, I really tried and it tasted good the first time. It didn't when it came back up. At least Steve and Natasha stayed with me as I lost half my body weight to the toilet, rubbing my back and saying soothing things to me.

When I was finally done I didn't want to move so I didn't. I laid on floor and let my fall asleep again.

When I woke up next time I was in the comfy bed. Even thou I am sure that it was impossible I felt even worse. For a few minutes I sat there and stared at the ceiling memorizing the shapes made by texture up there. Bruce and Steve walked in with the tougne stick to check my tempature I shut my mouth. "Can I take your temerature? We need to make sure it hasn't gone up."

"Okay. That thing tastes weird thou."

Steve smiled "We'll keep that in mind".

When the nasty thing beeped it said I had temperature of 105 degrees. Now I had to take an ice bath. Not that mind baths but I don't want to be cold. At least after this Steve said that we can play together again. And I could wear my pajamas which was awesome because  they are awesome.

Percy was okay til we got to the water and he saw the ice and itwas an instant I regret this decision moment. His whole body trembled from the coldness of it. He looked so small, so weak, so vulnerable in the water but it was working.

I looked down at him with pity. When five minutes were  up I wasted no time pulling him out. He was shaking worse then a leaf in the wind. Lips so blue that my eyes were grey. His teeth chattered so bad that he reminded me a beaver.

I wrapped him in the warmest blanket possible. As I walked back I had a sense of Deja vu as Percy fell asleep in my arms. When I got 'our ' room I lied him down, tucked him in, then kissed his forehead. "Good night Percy"

A light voice answered "Night, night, Πατερούλης"
