XVII Yes, I'm Also a Hacker
"Unfortunate one? Really?"
"You are unfortunate and you are only one," Rey huffed at my perfectly logical response. "Here we are, your lovely new cell, complete with one way glass and state of the art observation technology. In you go," I pushed her in and shut the door. "Don't try anything I'm just outside," I left with a wink.
"Okay, let's see what you've got," I wired my laptop to the control panel beside the door and plopped down onto the floor. It didn't take long to get into the system, the First Order were lucky that the resistance didn't have any skilled hackers. "Alright..." I sent a message to the control room reading:
I'm in. Love your favourite hacker. Xxx
Ps your security systems are terrible. I'm going to upgrade them. You're welcome.
But first I needed to change the door security. Rey came up to the little window. "Go away, I'm working,"
"Really? I thought you were just the resident nuisance," That was a low blow.
"Yeah well, guess I'm not. At least I'm more than competent with a lightsaber and have an understanding of the Force, unlike you," Rey spluttered. "Don't engage in a battle of insults if you only have one. And not a good one at that. Now go kick a wall or something, I have things to do," I never even looked up from my laptop. It beeped, 'update successful'. That was the door almost done. I stood up.
"Where are you going?" Rey was still stood at the little window.
"To get something. I'm coming back,"
"You're back,"
"Yes, now be quiet unless you want to explode," I was joking, but she seemed to take it seriously. I took the touch pad out of my pocket along with a bunch of wires. Opening up my toolkit I cut a rectangular hole in the panel and put it to one side. I soldered the touch pad to the door controls and switched it on, first registering my own fingerprint and setting a 10-digit code. I got up and headed towards the command room.
"Ahem," Everyone in the command room turned to look at me. There was a silence as the victims of the chaos of the new security system looked at me. Which was everyone. "Hi..."
"You did this," Hux looked at me.
"Your security system was terrible. Whoever sold it to you is a con-man or woman. However, my software is almost unhackable. 30 character encryption that changes every 30 seconds. Unpenetrable fire walls and an alarm system so in the impossible of event of someone getting in we'll know. Also malware will automatically be uploaded to whoever hacks in to destroy their computer,"
"Yes, but no one can get in,"
"About that... I'll sort it," I paused and looked around at all the angry faces. I definitely needed to sort that "Can you, uh, come with me for a second?"
"What about the security update?"
"I said I'd sort it, but you need to come with me first,"
"Okay, but you really need to sort it out," Ben turned around leaving the locked computer.
Tapping some keys on my laptop I nodded at Ben. "Put your finger on the panel. Okay you're in, Midge you're up,"
"Don't call me that,"
"Okay, you guys are mad about the security update. Just do it, and you'll thank me later when the resistance learns to hack. There you go. The code is 10 digits long, I set it to change every 12 hours. When I get you back into the system it'll be sent to you when it changes,"
"When you get us back into the system?"
"I have to get everyone back into the system. I'm working my way around to command room from back to front. Unfortunately for you, you are at the front," I smirked "There's always bribery," I added under my breath as I slipped past them and headed back to the command room. "Let's get this party started,"
