Chapter III: Elysium

"Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam"

I heard someone singing. A girl's voice. She sings so mildly, and a good voice. The song is slow, typical for a church ceremony kind of music.

"Et lingua eius loquetur indicium."

I really don't know what she is singing, but this melody.. This melody is very soothing.. It's like a hole, in a dark room. It shines brightly even tho it's light is fading.

"Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem"

The girl continues singing while i hear another girl screaming in agony. I don't really know what is happening in this room that I am in. I am just a little girl, wallowing in the dark corner of my room, looking at the small hole in the wall that lights a small part of the dark room like it's joking about my existence and looking down at me from a high place while laughing, ridiculating my whole being.

"Quoniqm cum probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae."

I still don't understand what the girl is singing, but somehow it feels annoyingly itchy hearing it, and sometimes it feels very soothing.

"Ky--", The girl's singing was interrupted, "Ahhhhh.. Where are you taking me? I don't wanna do it again!!", she screamed hardly after the sound of a metallic door was opened.

It could be a moments notice that they will do to me on what they did on those other girls that are screaming in agony. But all they did to me was get samples of my blood, hair, skin, saliva, and genital liquids. Why is that I haven't experienced those things that the other girls did? Was I just lucky? Was I special? Was I unneeded? Is it that God really exists and did helped me? I don't know, I'm just a 6 year old girl with a very thin body and very pale skin.

I heard a girl, screaming more loudly. I think it was the voice of the girl that was singing. Such a beautiful voice wasted on just the screams.

Moments pass, the girl's screaming would subside for a while and scream again after a few minutes.

I heard footsteps on the hallway again. Are they getting me out and do those horrible things they did to other girls? It was a footstep that sounds like lighter and looks like the sound of heels crushing on the floor while running. I heard a second footsteps, it was heavier than the first, so I assumed that the first was a female and the second is a male. Gasping for breath, they stoped just few meters from my dark room. I get my ears to the wall and tried to understand what is happening outside. I heard a female voice talking while grasping for breath. At that moment, my whole body got numb, I got goosebumps, and my brain tells me that I have to get out of here as soon as I can. I think I overheard something I shouldn't have.

"Irregular heartbeat. Heart palpitations. Arrhythmia.", the female voice said while gasping for her breath. "I search and search, eyes scanning everything I can find on their symptoms. What is this? Shortness of breath? Chest pain? Dizziness? No. This is all wrong. Elyssa's symptoms are nowhere near this simple. I've seen it twice now. The screams of pain. Sickeningly pale skin. Vomiting blood. There is no other explanation, other than that Renier's information was a complete and utter lie.", the female voice added. I didn't completely know what is she talking, but I know it wasn't good. I heard blood, heartbeat and the likes. I didn't hear clearly the male's response, but they just continued their running. and there were more footsteps following them.

My mind went completely blank. I don't know what to do. I reached hard for the hole in the wall but i cannot reach it, it's farther than my height. The screaming girl screams even louder than before. What is wrong with this place?

Then sooner, I heard gunshots fired from a close distance. "Bang!", I heard other girls' scream as the first shot was fired. Did they scream because of the surprise, or did they scream because of something they did to them?

Everything here is wrong! Nothing here is real! I don't even know what is happening.

The gunshots calmed for a moment. I also regained my composure from the intense fear and shock i felt just a moment ago. I put my ears again against the wall that is parallel to the hallway. I heard a faint male voice and a faint female voice. "Tak---his--o-s-yori", the male voice said in a whisper-like manner. "B-t--hat--il---appen-to you, Renie-?, the female voice asked the male who seemed like grasping for breath. "It doesn't matter what happens to me, just get out if this place and take that thing to our daughter!", the male voice shouted hastily and angrily to the woman, "we'll all gonna die here if you stay, so you should get out of here and take that thing!", he added. The gunshots resumed after the shouting, and it's drawing closer to my room.

"Am I"

"going to die"

"this early"

"in my life?"

I asked myself trembling in fear.

"I still want to get out of this room!",I cried out loudly.
