Chapter XVI: いろは The Fundamentals (Iroha)

I've been running and crying my way down the stairs of the school. That bitch, Yuri, I only wanted to be friends with her, but she is too weird. I was still crying and running down the stairs, suddenly, my feet slipped and I fell down the stairs and ended up rolling down to the next platform. "Aww, that hurts!", I said to myself as I try to stand. I felt my eyes are still teary, my nose are clogged, am I crying? Why am I crying? As I recall the events of my afternoon, I was just having a good time with my club mates except for Yuri acting really strange. Well, I may be just crying for no reason, I usually do that when I remember something sad.

I got home, I cleaned myself, had a dinner with father, and got to sleep.

The next day, at the school's cafeteria, I saw Monika. I approach her, "Hey Monika! Can I talk to you for a while?", I asked. "Yes, why not?", Monika replied while eating her sandwich. "I've been really worried about Yuri. The way she is acting is very strange.", I said. "Yes, I've noticed it too. But I think that is just how Yuri is.", Monika answered. "What? She is not like that!", I exclaimed, "She used to be very polite, attentive, and conservative.", I added. "We cant do anything for her, except to tell her to go to a therapists.", Monika replied, stood up, put the garbage in the trash, "Hey, there's nothing to worry about, Yuri will just be fine. So, let's go to classes already.", Monika added. I felt really angry with Monika that time, but I just let it slip, she got a point too. Maybe I will ask Haruki later this afternoon.

I actually wrote a letter to Haruki during class, to help me with Yuri, instead of a poem. I plan to give it to him this afternoon.

Afternoon came, I got to the club room. I greeted Yuri a good afternoon, she replied a greeting too. "Hey Natsuki, I am really sorry about yesterday." Yuri said. Why is she sorry? "What are you talking? You didn't do anything that upsets me yesterday, as far as I can remember.", I said. "Eh?", she reacted. "Good afternoon.", Haruki greeted and came in, Yuri started getting weird again. "Hey Haruki! Let us start reading already!", Yuri said. "A-- Alright!", Haruki said. "Oh no, wait, reading could be a lot of fun if we have tea.", she said, "Get that tea maker at the closet and put it here on the desk.", she added. Haruki just complied, what the hell is wrong with this guy? "Alright, I'll get some water from the water fountain, you wait here.", Yuri said. "Let me get it for you, Yuri.", Haruki said. "No, I will, you just sit there!", Yuri said while smiling creepily. "Alright!", Haruki said. A few moments later, Haruki came to me. "Hey, is Yuri always like that?", He asked. "No, she just started acting up like that after Sayori's death.", I answered. He just kept silent, maybe he remembered Sayori, I shouldn't have brought that. It's been a while now since Yuri left. "Natsuki, I'll go on and check Yuri for a bit.", he said, I just nodded.

A few minutes later, Haruki and Monika came. They sat away from me so I can't hear what they were talking about. Moments later, Yuri came back with a pitcher full of water. "Hey Haruki, let's have some tea while reading, okay!?", Yuri said, still smiling creepily. They started reading, I just observe Yuri.

"Let us now share our poem, guys.", Monika said unenthusiastically. I decided to share my poem to Haruki first.

I didn't bother to read his poem, I just gave himmine then I came back to my seat.
