I woke up the next morning with a headache. The blaring sound of my alarm didn't help. I stumbled into my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I had small dark circles under my eyes. I took a couple of Aspirin and started getting ready.
When I got downstairs my mom had already gone to work. She left a note on the table saying that she would be home late and for me to go to the store and get a few things after school. I put the note in my pocket since it had the list of things I need to get.
I then poured myself a bowl of cereal and used the last of the milk. I guess we need that too. I sat down and started eating while scrolling through news articles on my phone. Mainly ones from Jasper Post.
After gulping down the last spoonful of milk, I got a text from Alex.
Monkey: I'm outside. Come out.
I texted back 'No. I don't wanna.'
Monkey: Don't make me come in there and get you.
I put my bowl in the sink and grabbed my backpack at the door. I picked up my shoes on the way out.
~~~
I yawned while listening to a friend ramble about her rich girl problems. Alex was standing right beside me. She looked at me strangely and I gave her the same look.
"Did you get enough sleep?" She asks. "You have been yawning a lot." I blinked. Then yawned again."Yeah I'm fine. I guess I didn't sleep too well last night. Woke up with another headache." I mumbled. She nodded and got a bottle of Ibuprofen out of her bag. I waved it away. "I took some this morning." She nodded and put it away.
I heard a few girls squeal. It came from the front entrance and everyone's gaze was at the girls. Someone must have entered, but I couldn't see their face. Alex squeezed my arm and jumped, making me stumble a little. "That's him!" She squeaked.
"Who?" I asked, you know, like an idiot. She looked at me with a bright smile.
"Daniel Dach! The new guy I told you about!" She squeezed my arm again. I'm not the most muscular guy so that kinda hurt. To be honest, I have noodle arms.
I snapped my gaze away from Alex to the direction of the new guy who's name I just learned a few seconds ago but miraculously forgot. I could finally see him. He had dark brown hair that looked like a short mop. He was talking to an excited horde of screaming girls. He smiled and I heard his laugh from where I was standing, at the other side of the room. It gave me a weird feeling. Almost like chills but it wasn't unpleasant. And his smile, It was so bright it was almost blinding.
I think he felt me staring because his eyes landed on me suddenly. My face went red and I looked away. How embarrassing. I was caught staring at the really hot new student that I've oddly heard nothing about until yesterday and the news has been spreading since last week. Why is he so popular before even transferring? I have no clue. Honestly, I don't want to find out.
Alex suddenly shook my shoulder. "Caleb Caleb he's coming over here! I told you this would happen!" She whisper-yelled. I looked at her in panic and then looked at the guy who was indeed coming this way. I immediately turned around and opened my locker. I rummaged through my things to make it look like I was getting ready for class, even though I don't need anything.
"Oh Hades, Alex! I was staring at him and he saw! What if he thinks I'm weird!" I said in a high pitched squeaky voice. My voice gets like that when I'm nervous and panicking. I hate it.
I heard a low chuckle from behind me. I turned around and I was met with gorgeous eyes. All the browns, blues, and greens in his eyes clashed together to make a beautiful Hazel.
"I don't think you're weird." He argued lowly with a dangerous yet alluring smirk dancing on his lips. "Quite frankly, I think you're pretty cute. What's your name, Pinkie?" My face instantly fumed. I stammered for a few seconds while looking at him. I didn't know what to do so I slammed my locker shut and ran off.
"Caleb!" I heard Alex yell from behind me. I didn't stop, though. I ran into the boys bathroom all the way down 1B hall and walked over to the last stall. I locked the door and sat on the top of the toilet so my feet were on the seat.
Now, what was that?
My heart lurched when he said that and it honestly caught me off guard. I noticed before I ran he had a double pierced right ear. It honestly looked really good on him. But, maybe what Alex said was right. And if she is right, she won't hesitate to rub it in my face. It was just a coincidence I bet. Because my stupid self was staring at him.
Even then, why me? Someone like him can't be gay. He's the ultimate chic magnet. I saw the way he was swimming in that group of girls before he walked towards me.
Oh jeez.
