"Mr. Cupid, can you tell us what happened to your journal?"
...
"Caleb, you need to talk to us so that we can help you."
...
"Okay. I understand that this was traumatic for you, but you need to tell us what happened so we can handle the situation."

I sighed, and averted my gaze to the side for what seemed like the 10th time. Sitting in this office, being stared at by the people who make up the school faculty that is supposed to 'help' you in these types of situations, is mentally exhausting. I feel a headache coming on.

"What the hell am I supposed to tell you?" I spit. The councilor lady stops her pacing and hardens her gaze on me suddenly. She slowly slides into the chair straight across from mine and clicks her pen.

"Everything. We need to help you."

I dropped my head, and intently stared at the bottom of my jeans.

"Where do I start?"

I paced back and forth in the main office. "Dach, go to class!" The secretary scolded me once more. I shot her a venomous glare.

"Not until I see him and know he's going to be okay. You have no idea how fragile he is. In this world full of heathens, he's the only thing left that could be considered innocent."

The secretary lady sighed and sat down at her desk, knowing there isn't much argument when it comes to me. It's already been 45 minutes since he went into the room I was in just before. I told them everything that happened, Jerry and Peter are facing some heavy consequences, but they need Caleb to confirm the accusations. My hands are jittery. I hope he doesn't freeze up and deny everything like he did with Alex. If he does, Peter will get off scot free. Again.

Suddenly, door opens and Caleb walks out with his head hanging low and his bag held tightly against his chest. I shoot up from my chair and lunge myself over to him, engulfing him into my embrace. The councilor lady walks out, looking at us with a sincere smile.

"You boys should get to class now. It's second hour already." The principal stated, which I nodded and lead Caleb out of the office, my arm wrapped around his shoulder. All while giving the faculty a nasty glare.

When we got into the hallway, Caleb was still silent and stiff. We had separate classes, which made it worse to part. "You gonna be okay?" I questioned him, softly. He gave me a small nod, head still hanging down. I sighed, and finally decided to take matters into my own hands.

I brought my hand up to his face and brushed his cheek gently. I grasped his head in my palms, and lifted it up, planting my lips upon his forehead in a sweet gentle kiss. He looked at me, wide eyed, which I only replied with a smirk.

"I'll see you at the game?" I asked, which he only replied with a stunned nod. I smiled.

"Good."

When I got to class, I felt like all eyes were on me. I tensed up and stiffly walked over to my seat and got ready for Mr. Reed to lecture us about math shit.

Peter is in some trouble with the police for what he did to me, and they are going to come in and question me sometime soon. I don't know what they're going to do about Jerry, but I don't care.

After all this, I can't help the buzzing excitement for the game tomorrow night. Tomorrow is basically going to be a day where we all decorate floats and just fuck around until it's game time. I want to be there and support Daniel and his game. I know he's nervous about it. Honestly, I am too. I know how those guys were at his old school, I don't want him getting hurt.

I'm going to go watch him practice tonight as good luck for tomorrow. For the both of us.

After his practice and after he changed out of his pads and jersey and other things I have no knowledge of, we start our walk back down to the parking lot.

"There's something I think we should do before we go." Daniel says, and I look at him with a curious gaze, but didn't say a word. As we approach his truck, I see a figure sitting on the open tailgate. She looks up from her phone, and sends me a small smile when we lock eyes.

We were silent until we came face to face. Daniel looked between us, then patted my back gently. "I'll give you two some time." He said as he opened the drivers side door and got in. I sighed shakily and started to fidget with my hoodie strings.

"How have you been?" Alex asked with an awkward 'how do I start this' tone.

"Not great but alive, as I guess you know." I muttered. She looked down, and then back up at me.

"Yeah..." Then it was silent again. I stood there, awkwardly bouncing on the balls of my feet.

"Why didn't you tell me?" She suddenly asked, breaking the silence. I looked at her for a second, and then looked down.

"I... I didn't... know how." I whispered. I felt like an ant under her gaze. "I didn't want you to see me in a different light... but that happened anyways with me deciding not to tell you."

She slid off the tailgate and wrapped her arms around my shoulders in a bone crushing hug. "I didn't mean to abandon you. I didn't know what to believe, Caleb. I was torn between my best friend and blood, but I realize now that the blood I come from runs cold." She sobbed. "You should have told me."

I felt tears quickly well up in my eyes and slide down my cheeks, stinging them from the quick transition of ice cold to lukewarm.

"I'm so sorry." I sobbed quietly as I wrapped my arms around her.
