No word from Walter and the gang for the last six minutes and three seconds. It's nearly torture just watching everyone on this train bounce around while the train keeps going. It's almost like pi. It never seems to end. Time seemed to move a lot slower than usual for me at least. I stared at the hazel-eyed boy who was comforting his classmate Tyler. I sighed as I take out the gum that I had in my mouth and place it with another piece. I kinda felt like a failure even though I didn't do anything yet. I rub my eyes, them feeling tired because of the lack of good sleep or any sleep I've been getting these past few days.
"Kardia?" Ralph said, which cause me to jump slightly.
"Yeah? What's up buddy?" I asked Ralph as he sat down stiffly next to me.
"Are you okay?" Ralph asks. "You look stressed."
I was just about to open my mouth to say "I'm fine" when a hit another bump but this time, it felt more harsh and jerky. Me and Ralph walk over to Paige, who was holding on to a railing like her life depended on it.
"Ralph, I have to assume these trains weren't designed for these kind of speeds." Paige pointed out. She was right though, they weren't design to put on these types of speeds for a long period of time.
"Structural integrity is already compromised and mechanical failure is certain if the train isn't stopped." I fill Paige in.
"Wonderful."
"It'll be okay. Walter will be here any second." Ralph said.
"That's right, stay optimistic." Paige praised.
"No, really, he'll be here any second. Look." Ralph pointed to the terminal that we were coming up to and their was Walter, running toward the train, ready to jump.
"Holy shit!" I cursed as I run over to window as Walter jumped and was hanging outside the train cart right now.
"I seem to have overshot the emergency window." Walter stated the obvious.
"No shit Sherlock." I say
"It won't open!" Paige tugs on the window
"The emergency door, we can pull him in here." I directed Ralph.
Ralph rushes over to the emergency door and pulls on it several times. "It's not working."
"Ugh, mass transit, of course it's broken." I mumble. What would Sadie do? What would Sadie do? I kept repeating to myself.
"Guys, in 20 seconds, I'm broken. We need to do something or I die." Walter said.
"I don't know what to do. You are normally the person in charge of these situations." Paige stated.
" Yeah, well, not while I'm hanging off a train. Ralph, Kardia, you need to help me out here." Walter says.
"Is anyone wearing porcelain jewelry? Even just the smallest piece can break tempered glass." Ralph asks.
I looked around me. What Sadie use, what would Sadie use, what will Sa-
My eyes landed on one thing. Telescope.
"Paige!" I called out. "Telescope!" I said as Paige starts to pound Ralph's telescope against the window until it finally shatters into tiny pieces and Walter gets pulled into the train just before he could've been, well, broken.
"My telescope." Ralph said in a sad voice.
"I'll get you a new one." Paige promised as Mrs.Goldberg said damn Paige. I follow Walter and Ralph to the beginning of the train where the switch was suppose to be but wasn't. Walter takes the backpack that was on him and start to take out a computer and plug into the train's control system.
