Who's Your Wonderwall?

For the next two weeks, this is how my routine went: On weekdays, I'll get ready for school, Walter would sometimes leave a quote, puzzle or mind problem to solve and then I'll give him one and place it on his desk. Paige would pick me up, along with Ralph and sometime if they're early, Ralph and I would play with the computers and I'll even teach him a few tricks about humans, almost like Toby does. Sometimes, Ralph and the other losers will get paint all over their faces when they open their lockers, and I'll just get Nathan, the guy who thinks that he's the greatest thing in the world and constantly flirts with me. I sometimes would rather have paint on my face everyday then talk to this douchebag. I'll plug in my ear buds into my mp3 player and listen to songs instead of listening to the teachers talk about some random crap that's supposed to be important. Lunch time would roll around and we'll make small talk, sometimes we don't talk at all but someone who could never shut their mouth is Matt. It's almost like a reminder that he's there, which isn't that  hard to forget.

After school, Paige would always ask if I want to take a ride with her, but I always decline, skating toward the hospital, looking at a pale woman who's name is Megan, but she doesn't even look like her now. Afterward, I would had to the diner to meet up with Klarisa, who asks me about my day and talks about hers too. At least she asked me about my day, that was the bonus. I'll head home after another hour and be greeted by a couple 'hello' or I'll be met with silence. I'll sometimes do my homework with Ralph or if I'm not feeling up to it I'll just go upstairs and try to do my homework but end up not doing it.

On weekends, I visit Klarisa at her house or I'll just skate around, trying to find something to do. I still haven't really gone on a mission yet, and the last one happened on my first day of school. Sometimes, I'll help Sly or Happy on a project that they're working on or Paige and Ralph will come over or they'll invite me over. Weekends are just nothing, and weekdays are something.

I'm currently in social studies, students working on a worksheet to fill out, small talk is mostly everywhere, kids chatting more than working on worksheet as me and Ralph worked in silence. My ear buds were in my ears as I was mouthing to Everybody Talks By Neon Trees. The song slowly ended and another song came up, a song that I haven't heard in such a long time, causing me to perk up.

Wonderwall by Oasis.

The lyrics of the song started to fill my thoughts as I smile.

"What are you listening to?" Ralph asked.

I plucked a earbud from my left ear and handed it to him and he placed it inside his right ear. "Wonderwall by Oasis." I answered. Moments passed by before either of us spoke again.

"I don't get it." Ralph said, breaking the silence between us.

"What do you mean?" I cocked my head in confusion.

"What does it mean when it says,  And maybe, your gonna be the one that saves me, and after all, you're my wonderwall?" Ralph explained his question a bit more.

I paused for a few moments, thinking about my answer. "Well, they use that term 'wonderwall' as a person. Like, you can't live without them or else you'll go insane. They're your rock, like Happy is Toby's wonderwall. They'll always be there for you."

"How do you know this stuff?" Ralph asked.

I sighed. "I read a ton of books, Ralph. When you do, you pick up alot of things."

"Have you found your wonderwall, Kardia?" Ralph asked.

I was slightly taken back from the question, but then I smiled. "Yeah, I think I have."

Kids were glancing at the clock, waiting for that bell to rattle and they'll dash out of the hellhole, but not me. I was listening to music, again, looking at the teacher but not even understanding a word coming out of their mouth. Ralph's words echoed inside my mind, repeating over and over.

Have you found your wonderwall, Kardia?

It was a silly thing to ask but geniuses never ask silly questions and that confused and scared me at the same time. I didn't even know why I said I did, when I never did. Everyone I was close too, I ended out losing them in the end, which basically meant that they took all my secrets to their graves. Literally.  Ralph and the rest of the nerd square were pretty cool, but it was going to be about time that they were going to burn out, because every candle does.

The bell rattled throughout the school, startling me out of my thoughts as the kids hurry out of the door, and I quickly pack up and walk side to side with Ralph. Sloane said goodbye to Ralph, like usual and Ralph turned a slight pink and suttered back. I have to hold my laughter every single time Ralph did that, me biting my lip, holding my laughter until she walked away from sight.

Ralph sighed as I nearly collapse of laughter. "You can never hold yourself together, can you?"

It takes a few seconds for me to collect myself. "Sorry, if you see your face, you would to".

Ralph walks to his locker as I do to, putting in my combination, and opening it. I pull out my backpack and shove my homework inside it, slamming it close, handing my skateboard tight in one hand and my bagpack on
