Today was the day that I dreaded for such a long time. It was a week after New's Years, I was currently standing in front of a mirror, staring blankly at my reflection. You could feel the sadness and anxious energy hovering over the garage like a stormy rain cloud that just won't budge. Heck, even Paige wasn't that cheery.
I sighed, fixing my shirt for the fourth time in 2 minutes. I was wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, black converse with a Marvel T-shirt with a button-down plaid blue shirt. I kept running through the lines of what I was going to say to Sadie's parents in my head. I couldn't say them out loud because every time I did, I started to choke up.
I was snapped out of my thoughts from a sharp knocking sound from my door. I turned around to see Paige peeking her head from behind the door. "Hey."
"Hi." I tucked a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear.
"You ready?"
"Almost." I glanced at my brown leather backpack, where it stood packed and ready.
"You know, you don't have to meet them. We can still delay it. They'll understand, Kardia."
I shook my head. "I gotta check this box, Paige. I just got to."
"Alright, then let's move." Paige playfully directed.
I walked over to the bed and I picked it up by the handle and grabbed my leather jacket, Paige taking my leather backpack so I could put on my jacket. Paige handed me my leather backpack back and ruffled my blonde hair. We both walked out of the room downstairs where the others were waiting.
The clinking noise of Paige's heels hitting the steps made everyone instantly look at us. They all carried the same emotionless facial expression, but Cabe, who showed pity and sadness at the same time. I gripped the handle of my brown leather bag tighter.
Walter stepped forward. "You ready?"
I jumped off before I stepped on the last step. "As ready as I'll ever be."
Walter nodded. "Alright, let's go."
Everyone picked up there stuff and shuffled to the door. The sad thing today was that it was bright and sunny as the world was trying to tell me, Hey, lighten up, your only going to meet your dead friend's parents and told them how she died! It's no big deal!
We splited up into two cars, because Cabe's SUV wasn't big enough to carry all of us. Paige, Walter, Sly and Cabe all went into Cabe's SUV and I got placed with Happy and Toby, the bickering soon-to-be couple.
"Hey, tell Walter to follow us 'cause we can lead them the quickest way there." I directed Happy and Toby. If your wondering, Toby was in the driver's seat, not Happy. Thankfully.
"You seem really persistent to Sadie's parents." Happy pointed out, curious.
"Not persistent, just want to get this done and over with." I laid back into the seat and buckle up. We started to slowly pull out parking spot and drive into the street. Toby had hooked up his phone to a GPS so they wouldn't get lost even though I'll talk them through it. Toby didn't really trust me, saying that my fear of meeting the parents and me saying the directions, I'll say the wrong ones so we wouldn't meet them.
"That's bull." I stated, plugging in my earbuds into my mp3 player.
"It's not bull just stating facts, my dear." Toby stated and I could see him wink at me through the mirror.
I rolled my eyes. "From what study of the satistic? From the norms?"
"Yes and that also applies to you. Your EQ is higher than an average human and more than these geniuses have." Toby pointed out, drumming his hands on the wheel as we have stopped at a red light.
