Taylor's POV
She went to sleep for the rest of the day and into the night. I had the opposite problem. I couldn't close my eyes for a minute without being scared something would happen to Bethan. Whenever I drifted off the image of seeing her gasping for air entered my mind.
I stayed downstairs on the sofa, watching movies, keeping guard of the door. I also wanted to be here as I could hear all the echoes in the house so I could run to Bethan if she needed help.
2nd February
I heard sizzling enter my ears. I came to my senses and realised I must have drifted off to sleep at some point. I looked over to the sound which was coming from the kitchen. I saw the mass of curly red hair tied back in a ponytail. Bethan. She was wearing sweats and I noted that she was still wearing my hoodie. I smiled. But then panicked.
"Bethan," I said, getting off the sofa and running into the kitchen. "Morning T-Tay," she said and turned to me. She looked much better. And I was glad. "I was gonna make you breakfast," I said and she scoffed. "Taylor, I'm fine, I've slept for a day. I'm feeling energetic enough to make both of us breakfast let alone myself." I looked into the pan and the site of bacon made my mouth water. "I just wanted to surprise you," I said. She turned and looked at me. Her arms wrapped around my neck and she placed her head to my chest. I delicately placed my hands onto her waist. "You've done enough Taylor," she said. Maybe enough for now.
I felt my phone buzz. It had been constantly for the past day. Messages from Hayley, Jeremy and even Justin asking me where I had been and if I'd seen Bethan. I looked over from the couch to see Bethan plugging her phone in to charge. I didn't know whether to tell them what had happened or not. I'd have to bring it up again and Bethan didn't need that.
To Hayls and Jeremy
Hey guys, sorry for not replying. Lost my phone. I've just been chilling in my house by myself. Haven't seen Bethan, think she's just chilling as well
I sent the text off and thought nothing of it. Bethan sat on the couch and I realised how the guys still didn't know Bethan lived here.
"Oh my god," Bethan said before gasping and then smiling. A smile. A beautiful smile. "What's wrong?" I asked, and looked up at her. "Nothing wrong, but look at this," she said and handed me her phone. She was on Instagram. "Hayley showed me how it works and everything and helped me set up an account. Then we had a picture and she must of tagged me because look..." she said.
I was looking at Hayley's picture from two nights before...on that night. Before Bethan and Hayley had gone for food and someone took a picture for them. Hayley looked great but there was something about Bethan. She was mid laugh, her hair bouncing around her. True beauty. Fuck I really liked her. I noticed the 6 figure number of how many people had liked the picture. That always happened with Hayley and Instagram. I then went on to Bethan's profile and saw. She had no pictures but in over a day, she now had 50,000 followers. "Woah!" I laughed. "I know right!" she said, smiling from ear to ear. "It's crazy! People actually remember me...and like me enough to follow me! And look, I was scrolling through the people and a lot of them are Please Clarify fan accounts! Like, they post pictures of us and talk about us and stuff! And they make pretty pictures of our lyrics and-" she was like a child on Christmas. "That's what fans do," I laughed. "I just didn't realise it had any," she said quietly and smiled to herself. I saw the blush in her face. Someone so genuinely happy. Someone who appreciates her fans and what they do.
I looked away, laughing at a Chandler joke on the TV. I looked back at Bethan, wondering why she hadn't laughed, seeing as he was her favourite, but I was met with her frowning face. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I...I just feel like a gave up and lost everything so quickly..." she said. "I shouldn't of given up Taylor, I mean...for the past couple of years I've done nothing with my life...but when we wrote "Last Hope" I knew that's what I wanted to be doing. What I'd always wanted. To be in music. But I messed up and it'll never happen now," she said. I stood up and walked towards her end of the sofa, crouching down in front of her. "Hey, it's never too late. And you proved that, by writing Last Hope. You're name is on the credits," I said, smiling. "I know, I know Taylor...still," she said. I sat down next to her and wrapped an arm around her. She came in close to me and we sat in silence watching the TV.
